In that get-up, Emily won't be in the Paris Olympics any time soon. But thankfully actress Lily Collins still got a shot at gold – with a little 'French' courage.

The Emily In Paris star, 35, joined US heptathlete Anna Hall in a race to open bottles of 'champere' – the champagne brand her character works with in the Netflix show.

In a video posted to social media, Ms Collins proposes a 'friendly competition' to Ms Hall, 23. Pointing to the actress's four-inch Ferragamo wedges, a bewildered Ms Hall asks: 'You're going to run in those heels?'

Ms Collins replies: 'In these bad boys? Don't tempt me. I have before, but no. Who said anything about running?'

She then wheels over a trolley with two bottles of bubbly, telling Ms Hall: 'Let's see who can pop their bottle of champere the fastest.'

As the pair race to uncork their drinks, the Olympian initially has the advantage ripping the foil off first. But Ms Collins manages to overtake her, pulling the cork loose and cheering as the bubbles explode.

Ms Hall, who faced Team GB's Katarina Johnson-Thompson last night, begs her: 'Please don't tell anybody that you beat me.'

Ms Collins whispers, 'it'll be our little secret' before pulling her in for a photo.

Posting to her 28million followers on Instagram yesterday, Ms Collins wrote: 'Emily and Anna in Paris.

'So much fun shooting this with Olympic athlete and all-around badass Anna Hall. If you haven't already been following along, tune in to cheer her on in Paris!'

Posing for the shoot for US network NBC, Ms Collins wore a sequined black beret, a £4,900 Valentino rose skirt and a £263 tie from the same fashion house.

Other clips showed her having her lipstick touched up and dancing in front of a green screen of the Eiffel Tower.

Apparently Ms Collins' new kit marks a more 'paired-down' wardrobe for her character on the show, which returns for its fourth series on Thursday.

She said last week: 'I found more of myself in Emily this season. Taking more risks in fashion being more paired down and minimalist – which is more risky for Emily – but is closer to home for me.'
