Dave Portnoy reveals why he wants USA basketball team to LOSE Olympics final to France in Paris

Barstool CEO Dave Portnoy enjoy causing chaos and being part of the narrative of events bigger than himself, which is basically every story.

Portnoy also portrays a patriotic nature and talks about the love of his home country, the United States, except for when its Olympic teams are playing for gold medals apparently.

The Barstool boss revealed he is rooting for France against Team USA in Saturday's Olympic final in Paris.

His reasoning is his Boston-sports loyalty to Celtics guard Jayson Tatum, who was benched by American coach Steve Kerr for the team's epic comeback semifinal victory over Serbia on Thursday.

'I want to be very clear. I am rooting for France to beat the USA in the gold medal basketball game,' Portnoy said. 'My allegiances are far stronger to @jaytatum0 than dodo brain Steve Kerr and Bron Bron.'

'Also anybody who cares more about Olympic gold than NBA title in basketball is a liar or their team sucks. This isn't a goal teams and players work towards their entire lives here. Its a rec league tournament that lasts a few weeks. Give me a break,' Portnoy continued.

Portnoy's video and messages were in a reply to controversial American basketball star Patrick Beverley.

Beverley signed with Israeli powerhouse Hapoel Tel Aviv this offseason, but played for over a decade in the NBA.

'Crazy part is that people were hoping (Team USA) lost yesterday,' Beverley said on social media. 'That’s crazzzy work. (One) more game to go.'

Beverley's message refers not directly to Portnoy, but to a group of Nuggets and Hawks fans, who were rooting for Serbia because of their two biggest stars, Nikola Jokic and Bogdan Bogdanovic.

The French roster has four NBA players on it, most notably Victor Wembanyama and Rudy Gobert, who play for the Spurs and Timberwolves respectively.

Tipoff is set for 3:30 Eastern time.
