Lupita Nyong'o throws a third birthday party for her cat Yoyo and takes a dig at J.D. Vance in new Instagram post: 'Childless cat lady'

Lupita Nyong'o treated her beloved cat Yoyo with a party to celebrate his third birthday on Wednesday, while also taking a swipe at Sen. J.D. Vance

The Black Panther star, 41, shared a number of snaps with her adorable feline companion as they posed in front of a golden 'Happy Birthday' banner.

The actress — who overcame her lifelong fear of cats while filming A Quiet Place: Day One — also had a special blue birthday hat for the orange tabby cat, as well as a number of crinkle toys.

'Go Yoyo! It's yo birthday!' Please join me in wishing him a very happy 3rd birthday!' the Kenyan-Mexican beauty wrote in the caption.

Lupita then took a dig at former President Trump's running mate with the hashtag '#ChildlessCatLady', after he went viral for making the remark in a resurfaced interview from 2021.

The star sported a chic yellow dress in the snaps, as well as a floral crown atop her head.

She accessorized with gold earrings and flashed a bright smile while celebrating her furry friend.

Last month the Oscar winner paid tribute to Yoyo on National Kitten Day, sharing a sweet video montage of him.

'It's #NationalKittenDay which means it's time to celebrate one of the sweetest loves of my life, Yoyo! Even though he's not a kitten anymore, he will always be my baby boy! #YOYOYYO #CatMom,' she wrote in the caption.

Lupita adopted her four-legged friend last year from Best Friends Adoption Center, but she wasn't always a fan of cats.

In fact, she had to undergo a form of cat therapy before starring in the horror/sci-fi film A Quiet Place: Day One — released in June — where she had a feline co-star named Frodo.

'They hired someone to bring cats to my home, and on the first day, they just released the cats in my presence. I stood on the other side of the room and asked questions about why they were doing what they were doing,' she told CBS News.

'I had been afraid of cats,' Nyong'o told People. 'I just hadn't spent much time with them. This film forced me to learn about cats, and I had to look like I owned a cat, and look like I cared, and look like I loved the cat. In the process of playing that pretend, I actually fell in love with the cats, Nico and Schnitzel. They're so sweet and cute.'

'There's something that melts your heart when they hold onto you. It was a bond that I had with them,' she added.

The star said that when she returned to her 'real life' and was 'going through a hard time, I just had a little voice saying, "Get a cat," and I got a cat. I have not regretted it.'

'I'm way less lonely with my cat, and he pried my heart open,' she shared.

She went on to state that what she loved about cats is their independence.''

'They take care of themselves... And they're also very opinionated, and they just have their personality, and you have to take them or leave them. I love that about them. They remind me of me.'

Lupita is not the only A-lister one who's been critical of Vance's 'childless cat lady' comments.

Jennifer Aniston, 55, also took issue with the statement, after Vance make remarks about 'childless cat ladies who are miserable at their own lives' while speaking about Vice President Kamala Harris in 2021.

She took to her Instagram Stories in July with sharp words for Vance, atop a clip of him speaking with conservative commentator Tucker Carlson.

'I truly can't believe that this is coming from a potential VP of the United States,' the Friends star said on the social media platform. 'All I can say is... Mr. Vance, I pray that your daughter is fortunate enough to bear children of her own one day.'

'I hope she will not need to turn to IVF as a second option. Because you are trying to take that away from her, too.'

The comments Vance made in 2021 questioning Vice President Harris´ leadership because she did not have biological children resurfaced in recent days, testing the young conservative senator in his early days campaigning as part of the Republicans' presidential ticket.

During Vance's bid for the Senate in Ohio, he said in a Fox News interview that 'we are effectively run in this country via the Democrats,' and referred to them as 'a bunch of childless cat ladies who are miserable at their own lives and the choices that they've made and so they want to make the rest of the country miserable, too.'

He said that included Harris, U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg and U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a New York Democrat.

Vance said to Carlson in the interview, 'It's just a basic fact - you look at Kamala Harris, Pete Buttigieg, AOC - the entire future of the Democrats is controlled by people without children. And how does it make any sense that we've turned our country over to people who don't really have a direct stake in it?'

Vance, 39, and wife Usha Vance, 38, have three kids - sons Ewan, six, and Vivek, four, and daughter Mirabel, two.

Aniston, who can currently be seen on Apple TV+'s The Morning Show, has been candid about her issues with fertility and trying to have a child over the years.

The 2021 clip of Vance has spread online, with former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton sharing it in a post on X and adding sarcastically, 'what a normal, relatable guy who certainly doesn't hate women having freedoms.'

The recirculated comment may be a sign of the GOP ticket's troubles appealing to women voters, and on the issue of reproductive rights.

It follows the explosive entrance in the race of Harris, who secured the support of enough delegates to become the official nominee in less than 32 hours after President Joe Biden ended his reelection bid.

It also lays out some of the fears expressed by strategists that Trump took a political risk in picking a running mate who has been in Congress less than two years and is largely untested on a bigger stage. Trump liked Vance's telegenic qualities and said he reminded him of 'a young Abraham Lincoln.'
