Hunter Schafer got emotional as she opened up about her split from Dominic Fike.
The Kinds of Kindness star, 25 — who is expected to return for the third season of her hit drama Euphoria — hinted at why she and her co-star called it quits while on the Call Her Daddy podcast on Wednesday.
'It’s one of the cleaner breakups I’ve had. We both recognized that this is not working, and we can’t do this. We got to go our own separate ways,' she explained.
'It was so, so hard because we really loved each other. He’s a really special person and I love his soul and everything,' the HBO star said.
She and the Mama's Boy hitmaker began dating in early 2022 but seemingly went their separate ways in summer of 2023, just over a year later.

The starlet explained that their split was initially 'messy,' but over time their issues died down.
'It was a clean parting, and he has a lot to work on,' she said. 'I also have a lot to work on. I think that’s also why I’m in this era of, I gotta figure my sh*t out.
'We had a really good thing. But there were things in our own selves that had nothing to do with each other that kept coming up in the way of the relationship,' she added.
Hunter then reevaluated having a public relationship, hinting that being in the public eye may have caused a rift between the two.
'I don’t know if I’ll ever do it again. At some point when you’re doing it, it gets just too hard,' she recalled.
'You can try to hide it, but I’ve also come to this point just with fame in general, where, like, people are going to say what they’re going to say. I really don’t give a sh*t,' she said.
And the distance brought upon Fike's schedule as a musician did not help, according to Hunter.
'The thing that’s tough with musicians — or at least with successful musicians who are doing tours and stuff — and I guess it’s the same thing with actors. They have to go off for however many months [on] tour and then I’m working. It’s very hard,' the actress shared.
'I don’t know if that is, like, in my path again, because I’ve done it and I’ve tried it and really tried to make it work. It’s just very hard. At least at this point in my life, I don’t have the capacity to, like, figure out how that works. Maybe someday, though. We’ll see,' she finished.
