Henry Cavill's cameo in Deadpool & Wolverine came with a side of an upset stomach.

The Superman actor – who is expecting his first child with girlfriend Natalie Viscuso – played a version of Hugh Jackman's Wolverine in the Marvel movie.

Henry's, 41, role required him to smoke a cigar, which didn't sit right with his tummy.

'He kept that cigar lit and in his mouth for the entirety of the shoot day,' director Shawn Levy said on the Happy Sad Confused podcast.

'I remember hearing the next day that Henry was sick to his stomach because he had been inhaling cigar smoke for eight hours straight, but never once did he waver.'

During the podcast, Levy also revealed the nickname Ryan Reynolds gave The Witcher star. He called him 'the Cavillerine.'

'I knew it was undeniable as soon as Ryan came up with that term,' Levy said.

'He said "yes" right away because he knew it would be subversive and playful. It was also with a lot of affection for him and his body of work, and playing with his legacy as a DC hero now that he's appearing as a variant of a Marvel hero,' he said.

Cavill has been playing the DC hero Superman since 2011's Man of Steel. But, he was recently replaced, prompting Reynolds and Levy to lure him over the the MCU.

'In the case of Henry, it was not long after everything went down with DC, and word came that Henry was being replaced as Superman,' Levy said.

Director James Gunn took over the Superman franchise and made the decision to reboot the entire DCU, casting David Corenswet, 31, as Clark Kent/Superman.

'Given that Deadpool is in constant conversation with culture, it felt like a great opportunity to first of all cast Henry Cavill in a part that he would kick ass at, but also to poke fun at that other comic-book-founded movie studio and play with some self-awareness there,' Levy said in an interview with the New York Times.

Cavill shared an image of himself smoking the cigar on Instagram.

'To be safe, I shaved the moustache off for this one. Just the moustache,' his caption read.
