Jeopardy! viewers fuming at repeats as streaming channel is AXED without warning in double blow for bereft fans

Jeopardy! viewers are fuming at having to watch reruns from the recently released season 40 after Pluto TV's 24/7 streaming channel - which played classic episodes - disappeared without warning.

The beloved game show, hosted by Ken Jennings, is now on summer break after the latest series wrapped on July 26 after 230 episodes.

While it has been confirmed that season 41 will officially start on September 9 and run through until July 2025, devout fans currently have no choice but to re-watch season 40 if they want to get their Jeopardy! fix.

Viewers had been able to watch a wealth of old episodes at their leisure over on Pluto TV for the last two years.

But earlier this month, frustrated fans switched on the network only to discover that the platform had quietly cancelled its on demand streams.

'I don't like how they're re-airing something that aired so recently,' fumed one disgruntled viewer on Reddit.

'I forget how they usually do it but it'd be cool if they just did a random run from a few years ago so episodes would at least feel a little more new.'

Another raged: 'I was counting on Pluto to get me through the next six weeks.'

'I too am mourning the sudden loss of Pluto Jeopardy,' agreed a third.

'We were excited to see the first ever episode with Alex [Trabek] as host, as he explained the rules and the game.

'I thought they had just gotten some new (well, old) episodes to show, but it was gone the next day.'

A fourth added: 'Pluto TV got rid of the Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune channels. That's lame. What else am I supposed to binge watch all day?'

Pluto TV addressed Jeopardy's axe in a statement posted to a social media user on X.

Pluto TV officials confirmed that Jeopardy! re-runs are 'not in the lineup for now'

'The lineup is constantly evolving based on feedback from our users and content availability, so channels are added and removed, over time,' it read.

'This isn't to say it won't be back, at a later time, but it's not in the lineup for now.'

In 2022, Jeopardy! distributor Sony Pictures Television inked a two-year licensing agreement with Pluto TV, greenlighting hundreds of old episodes to live on the channel alongside Wheel of Fortune.

But while Pluto and Sony did have conversations about renewing their agreement, it appears that the two companies were not able to reach an agreement on extending their license.

Wheel of Fortune fans will get their fix of new episodes on September 9 when the new series begins.

The show's launch will see Ryan Seacrest make his debut, after replacing long serving host Pat Sajak, who stepped down in June after 43 years.
