About this audiobook
Now a major motion picture starring Mckenna Grace, Mason Thames, Allison Williams, and Dave Franco.
From #1 New York Times bestselling author of It Ends with Us comes a novel about family, first love, grief, and betrayal that will touch the hearts of both mothers and daughters.
Morgan Grant and her sixteen-year-old daughter, Clara, would like nothing more than to be nothing alike.
Morgan is determined to prevent her daughter from making the same mistakes she did. By getting pregnant and married way too young, Morgan put her own dreams on hold. Clara doesn’t want to follow in her mother’s footsteps. Her predictable mother doesn’t have a spontaneous bone in her body.
With warring personalities and conflicting goals, Morgan and Clara find it increasingly difficult to coexist. The only person who can bring peace to the household is Chris—Morgan’s husband, Clara’s father, and the family anchor. But that peace is shattered when Chris is involved in a tragic and questionable accident. The heartbreaking and long-lasting consequences will reach far beyond just Morgan and Clara.
While struggling to rebuild everything that crashed around them, Morgan finds comfort in the last person she expects to, and Clara turns to the one boy she’s been forbidden to see. With each passing day, new secrets, resentment, and misunderstandings make mother and daughter fall further apart. So far apart, it might be impossible for them to ever fall back together.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Jan 11, 2024 I finished this in a day!!! I was so shocked that the frost three chapters were already filled with so much info I could NOT stop reading. I genuinely felt so connected to Morgan and wanted to constantly give her a damn hug! I found myself so unsure how it would end or of the relationship would ever be reparable. Such a good read!1 person found this helpful
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Jan 11, 2024 This is a wonderful book! I’m not sure why Morgan’s voice sounds so robotic at times (especially when saying the word “to”), but I have really enjoyed the storyline.1 person found this helpful
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Jan 11, 2024 It wasn't bad, I liked the story in general but something was missing... There was some drama but probably not dramatic enough to spice in the right way.1 person found this helpful

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Oct 15, 2025 I loved the storyline and the characters. Great read! Five Stars!!!
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Oct 13, 2025 Ugh. This was ok at best. Clara’s character is insufferable, they never truly confirmed what they found out after the accident because Morgan tore up the stupid letters, and the narration was painful. I cringed every time either of them said “Elijah”.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Sep 7, 2025 I was pretty sure that I had run out of Colleen Hoover books to listen to, so I was very happy to discover that I had missed this one. It has the emotion that you expect from Hoover and enough twists to keep it from being as predictable as your average romance novel.
The narrators were good. I could always tell which character I was listening to (not always the case with some voice actors) and the two females did a good job of pulling off the male characters (again, this happens a lot less than I would like).
The s-x scenes are limited and not too spicy if your high schooler wants to read this before the movie comes out. Though they may end up with pretty high expectations for a first love in their teens, but you can hope that Miller makes them not settle for a lot less.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Aug 12, 2025 I couldn't get into it at first because the first narrator for Morgan is atrocious. I'm sorry but please never use her again. I was able to get past the voice since the movie is coming out soon, and I'm so glad I did. What a story! A little unbelievable at the end, but that's why it's fiction. Can't wait to see the movie now!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Aug 9, 2025 The final realization from Clara! Then the ending omg precious! I teared you!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Jun 12, 2025 This is such a lighthearted/heavyhearted story. The ups, the downs, the romance, the twists. Every bit of it was amazing and had me crying good and bad multiple times. I cant wait for the movie!
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Apr 30, 2025 Why does the Morgan narrator sound like they're AI-generated? Book was good. But very hard to listen to.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Jan 29, 2025 This book had me laughing and crying. Such a great book!
- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5Oct 23, 2024 Very bad plot. build up and no reward. All characters are annoying
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Oct 10, 2024 Great story of mother/daughter healing through shocking news. I really liked this audiobook. A happy ending for Clara and her boyfriend joke …

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Sep 30, 2024 This was a sweet romance. I loved it! Young love in more ways than one. Not as steamy as her others, which was refreshing. Well read, make it enjoyable.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Sep 8, 2024 This book was great. Life doesn't always goes as planned.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Apr 2, 2024 Another great read from Colleen. I loved the characters and the storyline.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Mar 10, 2024 The book was good (left a lot unknown that I wanted specifics to) but Miller saved it. But then narrator if Megan was so so incredibly bad it almost ruined the whole experience.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Mar 7, 2024 Waste of time. The teenage drama is just unbearable. I don't know how people can get through the whole book
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Feb 27, 2024 when Clara realizes her just how selfless her mother’s love is for her
- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5Feb 18, 2024 The voice actor/narrator of Morgan is terrible and SO annoying it makes me cringe. Very nasal, very dragged, too much vocal fry. It’s the worst voice I’ve ever heard. I don’t know how this person books any jobs in the industry, to be honest. I couldn’t listen to 5min of the audiobook. I’m very disappointed…
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Feb 12, 2024 This is every young girl who pines after the unrequited love of their life come true lol high school me is swooning for this win! I loved the characters and the dynamics. Such a sweet read!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Feb 5, 2024 Great story well told, and the author did a great job with showing different viewpoints of characters.
