Abstract
696,933. Scaffolding. BONNELL. J. W. Oct. 10; 1951 [June 19, 1951], No. 23575/51. Class 20(ii) A scaffolding or frame for a building comprises a coupling having a preferably cylindrical body 10 and arms 12 having lugs 15 adapted to engage loops 68 on the ends of horizontal members 65, the end of an upright engaging over the upper end of the body 10, retains the horizontal members in position. An upright also engages over the lower part of the body 10 and both uprights are locked in position by spring plungers 45. Lugs 15 may be formed with hooks 28 to engage the ends of brace members 82 and similar hooks may be formed underneath the arms 12. The end of the horizontal member 67 is offset so as to provide a part 76 that locks the lower brace member 82 in position. The upper brace member 82 is locked in position when turned into its final position. A shoulder 22 on the coupling provides an abutment for the uprights and recesses 23 for tongues 76 on the ends of the horizontal members.
