通过与基于高速微机械系统(MEMS)的喷墨(MemjetTM)打印机，例如如在我们前面提交的申请PCT/AU00/00578(docket no.IJ52)中所描述的，一起进行使用，在这个优选实施方式中，可以使这个网页系统更方便。在这个技术的优选实施方式中，相对高速度和高质量的打印已经降低到可以为更多的用户所使用的程度。在其优选形式中，一个网页出版具有一个传统的新闻杂志的物理特征，例如一组信纸大小的、两面使用全彩色进行打印的光滑页面，并且被装订在一起以更方便地进行导航和进行舒适的处理。
这个网页打印机利用了日益增多的宽带互联网接入。这个网页打印机也可以在低速度连接上进行工作，但是其发送时间变长了，其图象质量变差了。使用已有的、消费者所使用的喷墨打印机和激光打印机，也可以实现这个网页系统，虽然这个系统的工作速度较慢，由此从一个消费者的角度来看是比较难以接受的。在其它的实施方式中，这个网页系统驻留在一个私有的内部网络中。在另外其它的实施方式中，这个网页系统驻留在一单个计算机或者用计算机来工作的设备上，例如一个打印机上。
在这个网页网络上的网页出版服务器14被配置成将打印质量的出版内容发送到网页打印机。通过单播和多播互联网协议，周期性的出版物被自动地发送到进行订阅的网页打印机。个性化的出版物被根据每一个用户的要求而进行过滤与进行格式化。
一个网页打印机可以被配置成支持任何数量的笔，并且一个笔可以与任何数量的网页打印机一起进行工作。在这个优选实施方式中，每一个网页笔具有一个唯一的标识符。一个家庭可以有很多彩色网页笔的集合，其中一个笔被分配到这个家庭的每一个成员。这允许每一个用户可以对一个网页出版服务器或者应用服务器保留不同服务要求。
一个网页笔也可以登记到一个网页登记服务器11上，并且被连接到一个或者多个付费卡帐号。这允许使用这个网页笔来对电子商务付费进行安全的授权。这个网页登记服务器将这个网页笔所捕获的签名与前一个登记注册的签名进行比较，这允许它能够对一个电子商务服务器的一个用户的身份进行认证。也可以使用其它生物统计学来证实身份。这个网页笔的一个版本包括指纹扫描，其证实方法与这个网页登记服务器的证实方法类似。
虽然一个网页打印机可以发送期刊，例如早间新闻报纸，而不需要用户进行干预，但是它也可以被配置成决不发送未经请求的垃圾邮件。在其优选形式中，它仅发送来自被订阅的或者是被授权的源的周期性杂志。从这个角度来说，这个网页打印机与一个传真机或者电子邮件帐号是不同的，传真机或者电子邮件帐号对任何知道这个电话号码或者电子邮件地址的垃圾邮件发送者是可见的。
使用一个统一的模型语言(UML)类图来描述每一个对象模型。一个类图包括通过关系而连接在一起的一组对象类，这里对两类关系感兴趣：相关和一般化。一个相关表示在对象之间的某种关系，即在类的实例之间的关系。一个一般化涉及实际的类，并且可以使用下面的方法来进行理解：如果一个类被认为是这个类所有对象的集合，并且类A是类B的一个一般化，然后，简单地说，B就是A的一个子集。每一个类被表示为一个标有该类的名字的矩形。它包括一个该类的属性的列表，与名字之间是用水平线分开的，并且包括一个类的操作列表，与这个属性列表之间是用一个水平线分开的。但是在随后的类图中，操作决不进行模型化。一个相关被表示为连接了两个类的一条线，可选地，可以在任何一端标上相关的多重性。这个缺省的多重性是1。一个星号(*)表示多重性为“很多”，即，零或者更多。每一个相关被可选地标上其名字，并且可选地，在其任何一端标上相应类的角色。一个中心为空的菱形表示一个聚合相关(“是其一部分”)，并且被画在这个相关线的聚合者端。一个一般化的关系(“是一个”)被表示连接两个类的一条实线，在其一般化端有一个箭头(中心为空的三角形)。当一个类图被分为多个图时，被复制的任何一个类被用一个虚线来进行显示，除了定义这个类的主图外。仅在其定义的位置显示了类的属性。
网页是在其上建立一个网页网络的基础。它们提供了一个基于纸张的、面向出版信息和交互式业务的用户接口。一个网页包括一个打印页面(或者其它表面区域)，并且附带着对这个页面的在线描述的不可见的索引。这个在线页面描述被一个网页页面服务器进行永久的维护。这个页面描述描述了这个页面的可见布局和内容，包括文本的，图形和图象的。它也描述这个页面上的输入部件，包括按钮，超级链接，和输入字段。一个网页允许使用一个网页笔在其表面上进行标记，而同时被这个网页系统所捕获与处理。
多个网页可以共享相同的页面描述。但是，为了允许能够将通过相同页面而进行的输入区别开来，每一个网页被分配了一个唯一的页面标识符。这个页面ID具有足够多的精度来区别数量很多的网页。
到这个页面描述的每一个索引在一个打印的标记中被进行编码。这个标记标识了其上出现了这个标记的这个唯一页面，由此间接地识别了这个页面描述。这个标记也标识其自己在这个页面上的位置。下面更详细地描述了这些标记的特征。
标记被使用对红外线能够进行吸收的墨水打印在任何能够反射红外线的衬底上，例如普通的纸张上。近红外线波长对人眼是不可见的，但是很容易被具有一个合适滤波器的一个固态图象传感器所探测到。
一个标记被在这个网页笔中的一个区域图象传感器所探测，并且这个标记数据被通过最近的网页打印机发送到这个网页系统。这个笔通过一个短距离无线链路与这个网页打印机进行通信，并且通信是无线的。标记是足够地小，并且被足够密集地排列，以致即使在页面上进行一单个点击，这个笔也能够可靠地对至少一个标记进行成象。重要的是，每一次与这个页面进行交互式通信时，这个笔能够识别出这个页面ID和位置，因为交互式通信是无状态的(stateless)。这些标记被进行了能够纠正错误的编码，以使它们能够部分地容忍对表面的损害。
这个网页页面服务器为每一个打印网页维持一个唯一的页面实例，这允许它能够为每一个打印网页的页面描述的输入字段维持不同的、用户所提供的值。
在网页描述，页面实例，和打印网页之间的关系被显示在图3中。这个打印的网页可以是一个打印网页文档45的一部分。这个页面实例与打印它的这个网页打印机和请求它的这个网页用户，如果知道的话，均相关。
在一个优选的形式中，每一个标记标识它所出现的区域，和该标记在这个区域中出现的位置。一个标记也包括与整个区域或者与这个标记相关的一个标识。一个或者多个标识比特可以，例如，向一个标记探测设备发送信号来提供表示与这个标记的近邻区域相关的一个功能的反馈，而不需要这个探测设备参考这个区域的一个描述。一个网页笔，例如，可以让一个“激活区域”LED发光，当其在一个超级链接的区域中时。
在一个优选实施方式中，每一个标记包括一个容易被识别的固定不变的结构，它有助于初始时的检测，并且可以帮助使这个表面或者这个探测过程所引入的任何弯曲所造成的影响减少到最小。优选地，这些标记平铺在整个页面中，并且足够地小和足够密集地被排列，以致即使在页面上进行一单个点击，这个笔也能够可靠地对至少一个标记进行成象。重要的是，每一次与这个页面进行交互式通信时，这个笔能够识别出这个页面ID和位置，因为交互式通信是无状态的。
在一个优选的实施方式中，一个标记所指向的这个区域与整个页面一致，并且所以，在这个标记中被进行编码的这个区域ID与这个标记出现在其中的这个页面的页面ID是同义的。在其它的实施方式中，一个标记所指向的这个区域可以是一个页面或者其它表面的一个任意子区域。例如，它可以与一个交互式部件的区域一致，在这个情形下，这个区域ID可以直接地标识出这个交互式通信部件。
每一个标记典型地包括16比特的标记ID，至少90比特的区域ID，和一些标记比特。假设一个最大的标记密度是每平方英寸是64个标记，一个16比特的标记ID支持的区域大小可以达到1024平方英寸。更大的区域可以进行连续的映射，而不需要增加标记ID的精度，而是简单地使用相邻区域和地图。一个区域ID和一个标记ID的区别主要是为了方便。从大多数目的来说，这两个结合在一起可以被考虑为一个全球唯一标记ID。相反，在标记ID中引入结构，例如来定义这个标记的x和y坐标，是方便的。一个90比特的区域ID允许可以唯一识别290个(～1027或者一千兆万兆万)不同的区域。标记也可以包括类型信息，并且一个区域可以被标记上标记类型的混合。例如，一个区域可以被标记上一组对x坐标进行编码的标记和另一组，与第一组进行交织的、对y坐标进行编码的标记。
在一个实施方式中，这个120比特的标记数据可以被使用一个(15，5)的里得索罗门码进行冗余编码。这实现了360个编码比特，包括6个码字，每个码字是15个4比特的符号。这个(15，5)码允许在每一个码字中可以有5个符号错误可以被纠正，即，它能够容忍的符号错误速率为每一个码字33％。每一个4比特符号以一个空间相关的方式被表示在这个标记中，并且这6个码字的符号在这个标记中被进行空间交织。这可以确保一个突发错误(能够对多个空间上相邻的比特产生影响的一个错误)对整个符号的破坏符号数目最小，并且在任何一个码字中的符号数目最小，这样可以使突发错误被完全纠正的可能性达到最大。
可以使用任何合适的纠错码来替代一个(15，5)的里得索罗门码，例如，其冗余度更多或者更少的里得索罗门码，而具有相同的或者不同的符号和码字大小；另一个块代码；或者一个不同类型的代码，例如一个卷积码(见，例如Stephen B.Wicker，Error Control Systems forDigital Communication and Storage，Prentice-Hall 1995，其内容在这里被用作交叉参考)。
这个标记的物理结构表示的一个实施方式被显示在图4a中，并且在我们前面提交的申请PCT/AU00/00569(docket no.NPT002)中被描述，其物理结构包括固定的目标结构15，16，17和可变的数据区域18。固定的目标结构允许一个探测设备，例如这个网页笔能够检测到这个标记，并且推断出它相对于这个传感器的3维方向。这个数据区域包括这个被编码标记数据的独立比特的表示。为了使其尺寸最大化，每一个数据比特被用一个径向的楔表示，这个楔的形式是被两个径向线和两个同心圆弧所围绕而成的一个区域。每一个楔的最小尺寸在1600dpi时是8个点，并且被设计成以使其基点(其内圆弧)至少与最小尺寸相等。这个楔在径向上的高度总是等于最小尺寸。每一个4比特数据符号用一个2×2楔的阵列来表示。6个码字中每一个码字的这15个4比特数据符号被分配到4个同心符号环18a到18d中，并且分配方式是交织的。符号被交替地、围绕这个标记以圆形前进的方式而进行分配。设计交织的目的使在相同码字的任何两个符号之间的平均空间距离最大。
为了支持通过一个探测设备与一个被标记区域进行的“单点击”交互式作用，这个探测设备必须能够在其视场中看到至少一个完整的标记，不管在这个区域的哪一个位置或者位于哪一个方向上。所以，这个探测设备的视场的所需要直径是这些标记的尺寸和距离的函数。假设一个标记的形状是圆的，传感器的视场193的最小直径被获得，当这些标记被排列在一个等边三角形格栅上时，如图4b所显示的。
刚才所描述的这个标记结构被设计成允许能够有规律地排列平面表面和无规律地排列非平面表面。一般来说，在非平面表面上不可能进行有规律的排列。在可以进行有规律的排列的、最常见的平面表面的情形下，即，例如纸张和类似的表面，可以使用更有效的标记结构，这种结构利用了排列的规则特性。
更适合一个规则排列的一个替代标记结构被显示在图5a中。这个标记4是方的，并且具有4个透视目标17。这个标记的结构与Bennett等等在美国专利5,051,746中所描述的标记结构类似。这个标记表示了60个4比特里得索罗门码47，共240比特。这个标记将每一个比特表示为一个点48，并且用缺乏相应的点来表示一个0比特。这些透视目标被设计成被相邻的标记所共享，如图5b和5c所显示的。图5b显示了16个标记的一个正方形排列和相应的最小视场193，该视场必须包括两个标记的对角线。图5c显示了9个标记的一个正方形排列，包括所有的1比特，以用于显示与说明。
使用一个(15，7)里得索罗门码，112比特的标记数据被进行冗余编码，以产生240个编码比特。4个码字在该标记中被进行空间交织，以使抗突发错误的能力最大。与前面相同，假设一个16比特标记ID，这允许一个区域ID有92个比特。这个标记的数据承载点48被设计成不与相邻的点重叠，以使标记组可以不产生类似目标的结构。这也节省了墨水。所以，这些透视目标允许检测标记，所以，不需要进一步的目标。
虽然，这个标记可能包括一个方向特征来允许不使这个标记相对传感器的4个方向相互混淆，但是，也可以将方向数据嵌入在标记数据中。例如，4个码字可以被这样排列，以使每一个标记方向包括被放置在该方向中的一个码字中，如图5d所显示的，其中每一个符号被标记上其码字的序号(1-4)并且被标记上这个符号在这个码字中的位置(A-O)。然后，对标记进行解码包括解码在每一个方向上的一个码字。每一个码字也可以包括一单个表示它是否是第一码的比特，或者包括表示它是哪一个码字的两个比特。后一个方法的优点是如果，即，需要仅一个码字的数据内容，然后最多需要解码两个码字就可以获得所希望的数据。如果预期区域ID在一个笔画内不会被改变，从而仅在一个笔画的开始就进行解码，就可以出现这样的情形。在一个笔画内，仅包括标记ID的码字是所希望的。另外，因为传感器设备的旋转在一个笔画内被很缓慢地改变，并且其改变是可以预测的，所以典型地，每一帧仅需要解码一个码字。
也可能的是，可以不需要透视目标，而相反，可以依靠能够进行自登记的数据表示。在这个情形下，每一个比特值(或者多比特值)典型地是用一个明确的符号来表示的，即，用缺乏一个符号来表示没有比特的值。这可以确保数据格栅被很好地分布，并且这样允许该格栅能够被可靠地识别出来，并且确保其透视畸变被检测到，并且在随后的数据采样中可以纠正它。为了允许检测标记边界，每一个标记数据必须包括一个标记图案，并且这些被进行冗余编码以确保进行可靠的检测。这样的标记图案的开销与明确透视目标的开销类似。一个这样的方法使用了位于相对格栅顶点的各个位置上的点来表示不同的符号，因此，表示了不同的多比特(见Anoto Technology Description.Anoto April 2000)。
对一个标记进行解码就产生了一个区域ID，一个标记ID，和一个与标记相关的笔变换。在标记ID和与标记相关的笔位置被转换成在这个标记区域中的一个绝对位置以前，这个标记在该区域中的位置必须是已知的。这是通过一个标记图而给出的，这个标记图的功能是将一个标记区域中的每一个标记ID映射到一个相应的位置。一个标记图反映了用标记将这个表面排列满的一个方法。并且这个排列方法可以根据表面类型的不同而不同。当多个标记区域共享了相同的排列方法和相同的标记编号方法时，它们也可以共享相同的标记图。用于一个区域的一个标记图必须是可以通过区域ID进行检索的。这样，给出一个区域ID，一个标记ID和一个笔变换，就可以检索这个标记图，并且这个标记ID可以被变换成在该区域内的一个绝对标记位置，并且与标记相关的笔位置可以被增加到这个标记位置以获得笔在该区域内的一个绝对位置。
这个标记ID可能具有能够帮助使用标记图进行翻译的一个结构。例如，它可能编码卡笛尔坐标或者极坐标，这取决于它出现在其上的表面的类型。这个标记ID结构被标记图所记下并且对标记图来说是已知的，与不同标记图相关的标记ID所以可能具有不同的结构。
两个不同的表面编码方法是比较有意思的，这两个方法均使用在这个部分中前面所描述的标记结构。优选编码方法使用“表示位置的”标记，如已经讨论的。一个替代的编码方法使用“表示对象”(或者“表示功能”)的标记。
一个表示位置的标记包括一个标记ID，当通过与标记区域相关的标记图而进行变换时，这个标记ID获得了在该区域中的一个唯一的标记位置。笔的、与标记相关的位置被增加到这个标记位置以获得笔在该区域内的位置。这依次又被用于决定笔相对于在与该区域相关的页面描述中的一个用户接口部件的位置。不仅用户接口部件本身被标识，而且也标识了相对于这个用户接口部件的一个位置。所以，表示位置的标记可以很容易地捕获在一特定用户接口部件中的区域中的一个绝对笔路径。
一个表示对象(或者表示功能)的标记包括直接标识在与该区域相关的页面描述中的一个用户接口部件(或者等价的，一个功能)。这个用户接口部件中的区域中的所有标记标识了这个用户接口部件，使它们均是一致的，并且所以也是不可区分的。所以，表示对象的标记不支持对一个绝对笔路径的捕获。但是，它们能够支持对一个相对笔路径的捕获。只要位置采样频率超过了所遇到的标记频率的两倍，在一次点击中从一个采样笔位置到下一个位置的偏移量可以被准确地确定出来。作为一个替代的，这个网页笔101可以包括一对或者检测移动的加速度计，如在我们前面提交的申请PCT/AU00/00565(docketno.NPS001)中被描述的。
使用任何一个进行标记的方法，这些标记的功能都是与网页上作为用户交互式通信部件的相关视觉部件进行合作，这样一个用户可以使用一个合适的探测设备与打印页面进行交互式作用，以通过这个探测设备读取标记数据并且在网页系统中产生一个合适的响应。
网页复印机
这个网页复印机是一个数字“复印机”，它包括一个页面扫描器和一个网页打印机。它的工作模式取决于这个用户所提供的输入纸张的类型和用户所请求的输出纸张的类型。作为输入，这个用户可以提供一个普通的页面，一个普通的文档，或者一个网页承载的编码信息。作为输出，这个用户可以请求一个普通的页面，一个普通的文档，一个编码的网页，或者一个编码网页文档。这个复印机可以包括一个装订机制，在这个情形下，它能够根据请求来装订打印的文档。
为了识别一个输入的网页，这个复印机包括一个网页传感器，如下面将详细描述的。
典型地，这个网页复印机也能够作为一个普通的网页打印机而工作，即，用于对来自网页系统的命令作出响应而打印网页，并且也可以作为一个网页基站而工作，即用于将网页笔中继到这个网页系统。
拷贝普通的页面
当被命令产生一个普通页面的一个网页拷贝时，这个复印机扫描该页面，在网页系统中归档这个数字页面图象，然后，将这个页面图象作为一个网页而进行打印。所产生的打印网页被用归档页面图象的一个页面id进行编码，这允许被打印的网页可以用作这个页面的一个数字拷贝的源，例如，以获得另一个这个页面的打印拷贝。这个打印的网页也可以被用位置id进行编码，以允许使用一个网页笔或者其它合适的传感器设备来选择页面的部分，并且被拷贝到其它的应用中等等。上面已经描述了各种网页拷贝机制，并且已经在我们前面提交的申请PCT/AU00/01111(docket no.NPA049)中被进一步描述。
可选地，这个网页系统能够对被扫描页面的内容进行光学字符识别(OCR)，这允许该页面的内容被索引，所以随后可以被这个用户或者其它用户轻易地搜索。典型地，这个复印机能够处理被这个用户提供的一组页面并且能够同时属于一单个文档，这允许页面能够被独立的索引或者作为一单个文档的一部分而被索引。
可选地，这个网页系统将被扫描的页面和/或者文档添加到一个扫描页面和/或者文档目录。如果这个用户的一个身份对这个系统来说是已知的(例如，通过复印机的身份，或者所使用的网页笔的身份)，然后，这个系统可以被安排成将这个用户记录为被扫描页面和/或者文档的所有者，并且这个目录可以是与这个用户相关的或者链接到这个用户的一个目录。这个系统可以被这样构造，以使这个用户被要求通过提供一个身份令牌，例如一个智能卡或者一个网页探测设备，将一个身份提供给这个复印机。如果这个复印机的用户接口被提供作为一个网页，然后这个系统自动地获得作为用户与系统交互式通信的一部分的用户身份。替代地或者附加地，这个复印机可以允许该用户通过一个内建的触摸屏幕，通过一个屏幕和键盘，或者通过其它任何合适的装置，来输入(或者选择)一个用户名字。这个用户也可以被要求来输入一个密码以证明他的或者她的身份。
可选地，这个打印网页包括标准的网页按钮，以允许这个用户获得这个页面的一个打印拷贝或者甚至这个页面是其一部分的整个文档的一个拷贝。例如，这个网页系统的一个特征是在每一个页面的底部，在每一个网页上提供网页标识，以表示它是一个网页，并且所以具有交互式的特性。这个标识也可以用作一个拷贝按钮，在这个情形下，按下这个’标识按钮’就产生这个页面的一个拷贝。
这个用户可以选择在网页系统中归档被扫描的页面，以在未来被参考，而不需要立即打印相应的网页。
拷贝网页
当这个用户将一个网页提供给这个复印机时，这个复印机通过成功地通过一个传感器设备来探测一个页面id来检测它是一个网页这一事实，这个传感器设备是一个或者多个内建的网页传感器。这个传感器设备优选地被这样放置，以使它可以扫描这个页面上的多个位置，这样使成功探测到这个页面id的机会是最大的，即使这个页面的质量下降了或者被严重地破坏了。例如，这个传感器设备可以与扫描器设备的可移动图象传感器被安装在一起。
当输入页面是一个网页时，就存在多个可能性。这个用户可能请求这个页面的一个普通(非网页)拷贝或者该页面所在的文档的普通拷贝，或者这个用户可能请求这个页面的一个网页拷贝或者这个页面所在的一个文档的网页拷贝。一般来说，可选地，可以使用网页页面服务器全套命令范围内的任何命令。这些包括空表格命令，复制表格命令，获得表格状态命令，复位表格命令，复制页面命令，复位页面命令，获得页面状态命令，复制文档命令，复位文档命令，和获得文档状态命令，这些命令在我们前面提交的申请PCT/AU00/00536(docket no.NPA048)中已经被描述了。
例如，这个用户能够通过复位表格命令来获得一个网页表格的一个新拷贝(即，一个全无用户输入的表格)，通过复制表格命令来获得一个表格的一个新的激活拷贝(即，将用户输入转换为合适形式的一个表格)。
然后，一般来说，只要这个复印机能够探测一个输入网页的身份，它就能够产生这个页面的一个原始数字拷贝，具有或者不具有与这个页面相关的数字墨水，即使这个物理网页的质量严重下降了或者这个网页被严重破坏了。
缺省地，在不是用一个网页笔做的、这样也不被网页系统知道的一个网页的表面上的标记是不被复制的，当使用这个方法来拷贝一个网页时。但是，因为这个页面也是被图象传感器进行物理扫描的，所以，这个复印机能够探测到不是归档网页的一部分的标记的存在，并且可选地，然后可以复制这些标记。在这个情形下，这个复印机能够计算被扫描图象和被归档页面的一个修改图象之间的差异，这样，就能够在拷贝中再生这些差异。但是，这个处理过程可以再生不希望的人工效果，例如折痕和脏点，如果有的话。如果这个用户已经请求了这个页面的一个普通(非网页)拷贝并且这个页面没有包括网页输入，然后，这个打印机也可以产生这个页面的一个本地拷贝，如果需要的话，即直接从扫描图象所产生的一个拷贝，而不是包括来自归档网页页面描述的信息。
被用差异法检测到的、在一个页面上的非网页标记可选地可以被与归档的网页一起被归档到网页系统中，这样就使在缺乏物理原件的情形下请求页面的随后拷贝时使这些标记可用。然后，一个可选项被提供来作为这个复制表格/页面/文档页面服务器命令的一部分，以指定非网页标记是否应被包括在拷贝中。

当扫描器和打印机被分开时，这个系统可以被这样构造，以使目的打印机是用户的缺省打印机，或者前面与这个复印机相关的一个打印机。
如上面所描述的，这个复印机可以包括网页基站功能，即，一个到网页传感器设备，例如笔和类似的，的一个无线接口。如果这个复印机支持网页的“智能”拷贝，然后，它也在扫描器中包括一个或者多个网页传感器，如上面所描述的。一个用户接口向这个用户提供了对上面所描述的各种拷贝模式和功能的访问。
这个扫描器包括一个玻璃卷筒以在输入纸张(或者其它媒质)被扫描时放置输入纸张(或者其它媒质)，和一个线性图象传感器。在扫描时，这个图象传感器典型地相对固定的卷筒移动，虽然这个图象传感器也可以被固定，而卷筒本身可以移动。替代地，这个卷筒可以被省略，而复印机被构造成将页面传递通过图象传感器。可选地，这个扫描器通过一个机制来处理多个输入纸张的自动送纸问题，这个机制将每一个输入纸张依次从一个输入架传送到这个卷筒以被进行扫描，然后传送到一个输出架，其传送方式与传统的复印机的传送方式相同。输出架和输入架的功能可以被一单个架来提供，被扫描的纸张可以被物理上与待处理的纸张分开，分开的距离可以是一个或者多个指。可选地，这个扫描器通过在传送机制上提供纸张返送，就可以处理双面扫描。任何与送纸，格式化，核对，等等相关的替代或者附加功能特征可以被包括在本发明的复印机中。这样的特征将不在这里进行详细的模式，因为它们对技术人员来说是很明显的。
典型地，线性图象传感器是一个红-绿-蓝(RGB)线性电荷耦合器件(CCD)，虽然一个单色的CCD也可以被使用，如果不需要彩色。即使没有彩色扫描，当拷贝一个网页时，除了非网页页面标记外的所有的彩色再生可以被提供。
为了避免在一个扫描器中需要一个网页传感器，每一个网页可以包括被扫描器光学图象传感器检测的一个页面id编码。其形式可以是一个可见的条形码，例如。它也可以被不明显地藏在出现在每一个网页(并且典型地用作一个拷贝按钮，如上面所描述的)上的网页徽标中。
归档协议
当这个复印机被要求归档一个扫描的页面或者文档时，它从一个网页id服务器12获得一个文档id51，标识处理被分配文档id51的页面服务器10，并且然后，将页面图象发送到页面服务器10以进行归档。这个页面服务器10给每一个页面分配一个页面id50，保存这个页面图象，用它们相应的页面id和它们的公共文档id来索引这些页面图象，并且将被分配的页面id返回给这个复印机以在未来被使用。这个复印机可以利用文档id和/或者页面id，当随后向页面服务器发起页面服务器命令来对这些页面进行操作时(例如产生一个打印的拷贝)。
典型地，这个复印机在扫描页面后就立即将每一个页面图象发送到页面服务器，以避免在复印机中需要很大的存储器。它可能会延迟一个文档的打印直到整个文档被扫描和被归档，如果这个复印机包括一个扫描器而没有一个内建的打印机(见图10)，这就是特别希望出现的。上面所描述的归档协议被示意图性地显示在图11中。
很清楚，可以对上面所描述的特征进行很多替代和增加附加的特征，并且这对技术人员是很明显的。虽然本发明已经在其特定示例的上下文中被显示和被描述，但是技术人员应理解，可以使用其它方法来实现它。另外，对上面所描述的详细特征的很多修改也是可能的，并且应理解，任何这样的、对具体描述的和这里所显示的实施方式的修改和/或者补充均在本发明的精神或者范围内。

Claims (30)

1、一个拷贝文档的方法，这个方法包括步骤：
扫描包括了文档信息和表示这个文档的一个身份的编码数据的一个文档，并且形成这个文档的一个数字图象；
如果这个文档包括表示这个文档的一个身份的所述编码数据，检测这个编码数据；
如果这个文档包括表示这个文档的一个身份的所述编码数据，访问表示这个文档内容的被保存数据；和
打印这个文档的一个拷贝，并且同时，在这个拷贝上打印表示这个拷贝的一个身份的编码数据。
2、一个拷贝文档的方法，这个方法包括步骤：
扫描包括了文档信息和表示这个文档的一个身份的编码数据的一个文档，并且形成这个文档的一个数字图象；
如果这个文档包括表示这个文档的一个身份的所述编码数据，检测这个编码数据；
如果这个文档包括表示这个文档的一个身份的所述编码数据，访问表示这个文档内容的被保存数据；和
保存表示这个文档的一个拷贝的数据，被保存数据包括关于所述拷贝的一个唯一标识符。
3、如权利要求1或者2的一个方法，这个文档的拷贝包括从这个文档的所述被扫描数字图象获得的信息。
4、如权利要求1或者2的一个方法，这个文档的拷贝包括从表示文档内容的所述被保存数据获得的信息。
5、如权利要求1或者2的一个方法，这个文档的拷贝包括从这个文档的所述被扫描数字图象和表示文档内容的所述被保存数据获得的信息。
6、如权利要求1的一个方法，其中表示这个拷贝的一个身份的所述编码数据表示所述拷贝上的多个参考点，这个编码数据可以被打印成可以被一个用户操作的一个传感器设备所读取的，以标识传感器设备相对拷贝的位置。
7、如权利要求1的一个方法，包括步骤：保存表示这个文档的所述拷贝的数据，以使用文档信息和编码数据再生所述拷贝。
8、如权利要求2或者7的一个方法，这个数据保存步骤包括归档所述数据并且给每一个所述拷贝分配一个唯一的标识符。
9、如权利要求8的一个方法，所述数据的归档和所述唯一拷贝标识符的分配是被相应的计算机服务器实现的。
10、如权利要求2或者7的一个方法，数据保存步骤被在远离扫描或者打印步骤的一个位置而被执行。
11、如权利要求2或者7的一个方法，包括步骤：对被扫描文档内容的至少一部分执行光学字符识别(OCR)，并且将所述OCR的结果与表示这个文档的所述拷贝的所述被保存数据进行相关，以搜索所述拷贝的内容。
12、如权利要求1或者2的一个方法，其中所述编码数据基本上对人眼是不可见的。
13、如权利要求1或者2的一个方法，其中所述编码数据对人眼是可见的，并且被嵌入在可见的文档信息中。
14、如权利要求1或者2的一个方法，其中，如果这个文档包括表示这个文档的身份的编码数据并且表示这个文档内容的所述被保存数据是可以被访问的，所述被保存数据和所述数字图象可以被进行比较以确定这个文档是否包括附加的或者省略的文档信息，当与被保存数据比较时。
15、如权利要求14的一个方法，其中一个操作员可以选择这个文档的所述拷贝是否包括所述附加的或者省略的文档信息。
16、如权利要求1的一个方法，在执行所述打印步骤前，包括一个授权步骤。
17、如权利要求1的一个方法，其中这个拷贝是一个多页面文档，包括将打印页面进行装订的步骤。
18、一个拷贝文档的系统，这个系统包括：
一个扫描器，用于扫描包括了文档信息和表示这个文档的一个身份的编码数据的一个文档，并且形成这个文档的一个数字图象；
一个检测器，如果这个文档包括表示这个文档的一个身份的所述编码数据，就用于检测这个编码数据；
表示文档内容的一个数据存储库，如果这个文档包括表示这个文档的一个身份的所述编码数据，就可以被访问；和
一个打印机，被调节成用于打印这个文档的一个拷贝，并且同时，在这个拷贝上打印表示这个拷贝的一个身份的编码数据。
19、一个拷贝文档的系统，这个系统包括：
一个扫描器，用于扫描包括了文档信息和表示这个文档的一个身份的编码数据的一个文档，并且形成这个文档的一个数字图象；
一个检测器，如果这个文档包括表示这个文档的一个身份的所述编码数据，就用于检测这个编码数据；
表示文档内容的一第一数据存储库，如果这个文档包括表示这个文档的一个身份的所述编码数据，就可以被访问；和
一第二数据存储库，用于保存表示这个文档的一个拷贝的数据，和关于这个拷贝的一个唯一标识符。
