Detailed Lesson Plan in Math 1

4 A’s Approach

I. Objectives

At the end of this lesson, learners should be able to:

 Subtract objects and cross out object to take away

 Relate subtraction to our daily routine
 Solve subtraction by taking away numbers
II.Subject Matter

Topic: Subtraction of numbers where both number are less than 100
Reference: Matatag Curriculum guide
Materials: marker, worksheet, object.
Grade Level Standard: Grade 1
Values Integration: Cooperation and self confidence

III.Procedure
TEACHER’S ACTIVITY PUPILS’ ACTIVITY
Routinely Activities

Opening Prayer
Stand up and Let us pray.

Oh God Almighty, behold us your loving

children, offering you today our works and
studies. Help us Dear Lord to be obedient to
our teacher, to be kind to our classmates and to
be diligent in our studies. May you always
grant us the courage to follow your way.
AMEN
Amen.

Greetings
Good morning class!
Good morning ma’am.

Attendance
Is there any absent for today’s class?
Nobody is absent, ma’am.

Very good! Everybody are present.

Now before we start our class I have some

rules and regulation the you need to follow.
1. be quite
2. listen to the teacher
3. raise your right hand if you want to speak
4. cooperate to group activity

Do you understand?
Yes, ma’am
Review
Now, who can still remember the lesson we
discuss last yesterday?
Ma’am it’s all about pictograph.

Okay very good.
Let’s give her a five clap (students will give five clap)

Motivation

Before we start our lesson for today I will

present video and let watch it.

https://youtu.be/c8_t_E5cG38?feature=shared

Again class based on the video it all about

what?
Subtraction
Very good let’s give her/him a Pakbit clap.
The teacher demonstrates the Pakbit clap

B. Analysis

The teacher will discuss the subtraction

involving numbers up to 20 using a variety of
concrete and pictorial model, and describe
subtraction as “taking away”

Okay look at this problem.

(The learners will listen to the teacher)

5–4=1
It’s have 5 lollipops but taking away the 4
lollipop how many lollipops the remain?

To easily subtract numbers of object we need

to take away the object or numbers that
problem possesses.

This mathematical operation is what do we

called subtraction or also known as “taking
away’’

Do you understand class?

Yes, ma’am
Another example

18 – 11 = 7

2|Page
How many mangos they are?
18 mangos ma’am
How many mango taking away?
11 mangos ma’am
How many mangos remain in the set?
7 mangos ma’am
Very good class.

Abstraction

To test if you truly understand the lesson or

topic we discussed a while ago. I prepared
some questions about the topic we discussed.
Now when I call your name you’re going to
stand up and answer the question I give.
Did you understand class?

Okay let’s start.

(teacher will call student)

Questions:
What do we called to the mathematical
operation who also known as “taking away”?
Subtraction

Why it is important to us to know how to

subtract numbers or object? To help us understand how to take
away numbers and know the
remaining numbers we have.
Can you solve this problem 10-5=?
5

Very good
Again let’s give them a Pakbit clap

C. Application
Direction: Teacher will group students into
two groups. Each group will pic 5
representative who will solve the giving
problem using subtraction.

GROUP 1&2

1. 13- 10=
2. 20- 13=
3. 15- 10=
4. 8 -2 =
5. 12- 6 =
Answer
1. 3
2. 7
3. 5
4. 6
5. 6

IV. Assessment Yes, ma’am

Direction: Subtract the following giving

object. Cross out the object to take away.

1. -

2. - Answer:
1. 1

2. 4

3. -
3. 2

4. 3
4. -

V. Assignment
Direction: Solve the following dubtraction.
1. 18 – 8= (The learners will write their
2. 13-3= assignment)
3. 20- 12=
4. 10 -9=
5. 17 – 11=

Are you done copying your assignment class? Yes, ma’am

Keep all your things in your bag

Okay let stand up and pray.

Closing Prayer

Lord, we thank you for all the blessing we

received today. Let peace and unity prevail in
our home, school and community and country.
