Abstract
805,214. Rivets &c. METAL BOX CO., Ltd. Dec. 21, 1956, No. 39073/56. Class 89(1) [Also in Group XVII] A resilient grommet for connecting a bail handle 8, Fig. 1, to a body 1, comprises a head 6, a flange 5 and an intermediate neck 4, the grommet having an aperture 7 extending through the neck 4 and into the head 6 but not through the whole length of the grommet. The aperture 7 permits radial contraction of the head 6 and neck 4 when squeezed outwardly through a hole in a body wall 1, the head 6 serving to hold a flat handle 8 on pundhed-out lips 3. In Fig. 3 a wire handle 10 has a bent end 9 extending into the grommet head 6. In an alternative arrangement, holes for the grommet may be punched inwardly of the :can and a grommet inserted therethrough from the outside so that its head is inside the can, the wire handle end then extending through an aperture in the flange and the neck and extending into but not through the head.
