Abstract

873,273. Closures for containers containers. METAL BOX CO. Ltd. Oct. 8, 1959 [Oct. 8, 1958], No. 32180/58. Classes 66 and 125(3). A container having a body 1 of a thin metal, e.g. tinplate, or a plastics material, has projections 4 spaced round the body over which the springy skirt 6 of a lid 5 may be snapped, interruptions 8 in an inturned curl 7 on the lid being alignable with the projections 4 in order to take the lid off. In a modification the lid is vacuum-sealed to the body, Fig. 5 (not shown), and a bead is formed in the body below the lid so that a lever may be inserted between the head and the edge of the lid to break the vacuum. The lid may also be of plastics material or of tinplate. Specification 864,492 is referred to.
