Abstract

1,237,351. Container closures. J. I. MACDONALD. 1 Jan., 1969 [9 Aug., 1968], No. 57/69. Heading B8T. [Also in Divisions A4 and F2] A container which may be formed of a flexibly distortable material, e.g. linear high density polyethylene, comprises an annular flange 15 and an upwardly inturned hook flange 18 that cooperate with a cover 23 of similar material. The cover is removed by a tab 35, Fig. 1 (not shown). Alternative forms of cover are described : a cover whose crown accommodates the base of a container, Fig. 6 (not shown), a flat disc suitable for small variations of internal pressure, Fig. 8 (not shown), and a cover that co-operates with a hook flange 18 which is disposed below the rim, Fig. 9 (not shown). Alternatively, the container can be made of metal, in which case the cover is made of a flexibly distortable material, Fig. 7 (not shown). [GB1237351A]
