Abstract

828,152. Portable containers and closures therefor. PRESTIGE GROUP Ltd.. [formerly PLATERS & STAMPERS Ltd.]. March 5, 1956 [March 4, 1955], No. 6469/55. Classes 66 and 125(3). A metal foil container 1, Fig. 3, has a flat outwardly extending lip 3 the edge of which is turned up at right angles and curled outwardly as at 4 to form a rim. A metal foil closure, Fig. 1, has a flat annular portion 5 which seats on the flat lip 3 of the container, there being a rim of in verted U-shape on the closure which fits over the curled rim 4 of the container 1. The closure 2 is secured on the container by clinching to form the assembly shown in Fig. 3. The closure may have one or more small projections 8 near its U-shaped rim which serve to strengthen the rim and facilitate the separation of the closures if they have been nested together. The lip 3 of the container and the flat annular portion 5 of the closure may be coated with an adhesive or other sealing material.
