Abstract

897,833. Crown corks. CROWN CORK CO. Ltd. July 30, 1959, No. 26225/59. Class 125(3). A crown cork comprises a metal shell 4 having a crimped skirt 9 outwardly flared from an intermediate point 10 which is of smaller diameter than any other , part of the shell and a resilient packing 1 preferably of polyethylene, having an outwardly projecting bead 3 arranged to releasably hold the packing in the shell. The packing having a peripheral skirt adopted to grip the rim of a container even when the packing is removed from the shell. The packing may be thickened at its periphery and may have attached thereto a pull tab. - The inside of the metal shell is coated with varnish.
