799,472. Weather shields for cycles. SOC. D'APPARIELS DE CONTROLE ET D' EQUIPMENT DES MOTEURS, S.A.C.E.M. Dec. 6, 1956 [Dec. 9, 1955], No. 37354/56. Class 136(1) A protective shield for a cycle consists of a piece of flexible material 6 hemmed at each end for the reception of rods 78. The material 6 is slotted at 15 for the passage of the front tube 1 of the cycle. The slot may be closed by press-studs 16. Clips 17 are provided to grip the edge of a protective cape. The shield may be fitted on a bicycle frame of the type described in Specification 756,295 in which the crank axle is connected to the main tube 1 and to the rear forks 5 by means of bolts 3, 4. The upper member 7 of the shield is provided with a ring 9 which is engaged by a hook 10 carried by a support which straddles the middle of the handlebar. The lower member 8 is connected to the bicycle frame by two resilient rods 11 which pass between the zones swept by the feet of the rider during pedalling. The rods 11 are of steel wire having hooked ends 12 which engage over the rear bolt 4 of the bicycle. The rods pass under the bolt 3 and have downwardly directed nose portions 13 which engage in sockets 14 fixed to the frame element 8. The rods 11 diverge from one another in the forward sense.
