Abstract
765,784. Cycle leg-shields. Sept. 29, 1954 [June 29, 1953], No. 17940/53. Class 136(1). Weather protection means for a cyclist comprises a pair of substantially rigid leg guards 1 adapted to be mounted one on each side of the cycle front fork 9 and front wheel 8 so as to turn therewith as the cycle is steered, the leg guards being cross connected by flexible straps 10 and secured to the handle-bars 3 by straps 2 and to the down tube 6 by stays 5. The stays 5 are so constructed that they do not interfere with the turning of the leg guards. The guards 1 may be strengthened by cross bars 11 engaging suitable socket 12 on the guards. A flexible weather-proof cape 13 of apron form is strapped around the neck of the cyclist and is securable to the upper ends of the two leg guards.
