Abstract

753,694. Dropped foot appliances. DUDLEY, A. E. F. July 9, 1954 [April 13, 1954], No. 10887/54. Class 81(2). A dropped foot appliance comprises a strap to be secured about the leg between the ankle and calf, means on the strap for adjustably securing one end of a helical spring adjacent to the upper part of the foot and means securing the other end of the helical spring to the forepart of a shoe of the wearer. A housing 3 is secured about the leg by a strap 1 and carries a flat spring 4 to the lower end of which one end of a helical spring 5 is secured. The other end of the helical spring 5 is attached to a V-shaped hook 6 which engages eyelet holes in the shoe. The flat spring 4 is slidable in the housing 3 and carries a slidable collar 7 which is fixed in position by a screw 8 to serve as a stop which abuts against the top of the housing 3. By-adjusting the position of the flat spring 4 relative to the housing 3 the tension in the helical spring 5 is adjusted.
