Abstract

827,700. Foot supports. KATTHOEFER, E. April 11, 1958 [Nov. 21, 1957], No. 11657/58. Class 81 (2). A support for weak ankles or dropped feet comprises a heel plate 12, an upwardlyextending member 13 secured to the heel plate 12 and connected by a universal joint to a second member 14 which terminates in a leg piece 23 to be held against the leg, and biasing means 16 connected to the second member 14 and bending to swing the heel plate 12 about the universal joint. In wear, the members 13, 14 make acute angles with the fibula F of the wearer in opposite senses as viewed from the rear. The member 13 is connected to a bracket 19 extending upwardly from the heel plate 12 by a screw head 18 so that it may be adjusted in direction. The biasing means comprises an adjustable spring 16 connected between a bracket 25 slidable on the second member 14 and a strip 17 which shields the spring from the wearer and has a lower flange for connection to the sole of the wearer's shoe. The leg-piece 23 is padded and in wear, lies against the wearer's calf.
