560,835. Orthopaedic devices for footwear. FREUND, K. G. Oct. 17, 1942, No. 14571. [Class 17 (ii)] [Also in Group VI] An orthopsedic appliance for correcting foot deformities and for retaining the big toe in its correct 'position, comprises a flat sole portion 1 of stiff but flexible material, e.g. two layers, of leather stitched together at 2, and a strap or straps 3 attached to the sole portion midway of its length and looped to embrace the big toe. The straps 3 are anchored to the sole portion 1, i.e. by being passed through slits 4 at a position where the big toe will rest, and may also be provided with adjustment buckles 5.
