Abstract
451,747. Coke ovens..JONES, G. CELLAN-, 48, The Avenue, Linthorpe, Middlesbrough. Nov. 20,1935, No. 32169. [Class 51 (ii)] A coke-oven heating-wall comprises two series 3, 4 of vertical flues, adjacent, respectively the two ovens which flank the wall, a series of lower chambers 5 supplied with combustion products from burners 18, and a top collector flue 7 common to the two series, the collector flue being connected by a downcast flue 12 to a sole flue 10 leading to exhaust. Preferably each chamber 5, with the exception of the end ones, communicates through ports 6 with a pair of flues in the same series, and adjacent chambers communicate with the flues of opposite series. The end chambers are connected to a pair of flues of one series, and a single flue of the other. The ports 8 connecting the flues to the collector 7 are damper controlled, and the downcast 12 is divided, one part 14 being controlled by a damper 15. The collector may be divided into two or more aligned sections either permanently or by dampers, and each section is provided with a downcast flue 12.
