496,034. Coke-ovens. OTTO, C. June 2, 1938, No. 16531. Convention date, June 16, 1937. [Class 51 (ii)] In a " twin "-flued cokeoven the greater amount of heat which is required at the two ends of the oven to compensate for end heat losses is provided for by reducing the cross-sectional area of the end flues 9 as compared with that of the flues 10 with which they co-operate in reversal. In a modification, Fig. 5, not shown, the end flues are of the same dimensions as the other flues of the heating-walls, but each end flue is in reversing connection with the second and third flues.
