Abstract
359,482. Coke ovens. KOPPERS, AKT.- GES., H., 29, Moltkestrasse, Essen, Germany. July 16, 1930, No. 21569. Convention date, Sept. 27, 1929. [Class 51 (ii).] In a coke oven having transverse regenerators divided into half length chambers by a wall along the longitudinal median plane of the battery, the connections being such that all the chambers at one side of the wall serve for inflow and at the other for outflow, wide chambers 20, 40 alternate with pairs of half width chambers 21, 41. In the " twin " flued oven shown, in which the pairs of small regenerators at one side of the bench are opposite undivided regenerators at the other, all the chambers have direct connections 27, 28, 67, 68 to the heating-flues immediately above them, and the undivided regenerators are also connected to the heating-flues at the opposite side of the bench through flues 63, 83. Each of these flues is connected to four heating walls by transverse passages 64, 84, and ports 65, 66, 85, 86. The connections are such that on the inflow side gas and air regenerators alternate along the length of the battery.
