Coke ovens.-In a coke oven of the kind in which adjacent heating-walls 10, 11 are connected by conduits such as the cross-over flues 12, two end to end regenerator sections 14, 15a are arranged beneath each oven, and are connected respectively to the two heating-walls. Each section communicates with the flues of the half wall immediately above it through ports 16, 17 and with the flues of the other half wall through an extension flue 18 or 19 and ports 21. The extension flues are arranged immediately above the regenerators, and cross one another in the brickwork above the partition wall 13. Each heating-flue is in communication with two regenerator chambers so that the oven can be fired by preheated lean gas. Passages for the supply of rich gas may also be fitted.
