Coke ovens.-In a coke oven having regenerator tunnels running the length of the battery, the connecting-passages between the regenerators and the heating-flues include a pair of flues running longitudinally beneath the sole of each oven and connected at opposite sides of the bench to their respective regenerator. In the " twin flue " oven shown having two sets of regenerator chambers 12, 13 and 14, 15 for preheating both gas and air, the sole flues 16<a>. 17<a> cross one another at about the middle of the length of the oven, and are connected to the regenerators 14, 12. The chambers 13, 15 are similarly connected to sole flues beneath the two adjacent ovens. The sole flues are connected to the flues a, b of the two adjacent heating-walls by ports 16<b>, 17<b>.
