Abstract
494,659. Coke - ovens. OTTO & CO., GES., DR. C. May 4, 1938, No. 13286. Convention date, June 16, 1937. [Class 51 (ii)] In a vertically-flued regenerative coke oven openings k are provided in the heating-wall heads giving access to the dampers j by which the supplies of lean gas and air from the regenerators to the end heating flues are controlled. In the twin flue oven shown further openings closed by wedge-shaped plugs o, and arranged in line with the openings k, are provided in the partition wall between the two end flues b<1>, b<2> to allow manipulation of the dampers in the flue b<2>. The openings k pass obliquely through the head wall from opposite sides of the usual buckstay p.
