Abstract
427,549. Coke ovens. DREHSCHMIDT, H., 202, Rellinghauserstrasse, Essen, Germany. Sept. 22, 1933, No. 26230. [Classes 51 (i) and 51 (ii)] A horizontal coke oven having twin-flued heating walls 1 is adapted for the production of either high or low temperature coke by the provision, in connection with each regenerator 3, of two side-by-side sole passages 6, 6<1> for the supply of air or gas and the withdrawal o combustion products, these passages communicating with the regenerator chamber 4 through openings 7, graduated as shown so as to distribute the flow uniformly throughout the regenerator, and being provided, at their outer ends, with dampers 11 which enable either one or both passages to be used as desired. To maintain the uniform flow throughout the height of the regenerator, vertical guide walls 9 are provided therein. The coking chambers have a width not exceeding 350 mm., the preferred width being 300 mm.
