Abstract
442,928. Air supply to furnaces. MOLON, G., 17, Rue Voltaire, Paris. May 28, 1935, No. 15459. [Class 51 (i)] A device for preheating the supply of secondary air to furnaces comprises a hollow integral member 2 divided wholly or partially by a single horizontal partition 5 and provided with an air inlet 3 and with downwardly directed outlets 8. In one form, Figs. 2 and 4, the preheater is integral with the furnace door 1 and in plan is in the shape of a sector of 90‹ Air entering the inlet through a valve 4 passes above and below the partition 5 and then through lower outlets 8 to the combustion chamber. The centre portion of the partition is formed with longitudinal corrugations. Another form, Fig. 7 is adapted to be built into the brickwork of a furnace wall. The unit is preferably of a width equivalent to the length of a brick and the partition 5 divides the preheater into two independent chambers 9 and 10 each having a series of downwardly inclined outlets 8.
