背景技术
随着互联网的出现与发展,在打印媒体工业也出现了进行“联机出版”的一个机会,而不是产生和分发传统的、基于纸张的出版物。联机出版有一些优点。从消费者的角度来说,可以根据需要来获得信息,可以通过超文本链接来对信息进行导航浏览,可以搜寻信息,并且信息可以被自动进行个性化处理。从这个出版者的角度来说,去除了打印和物理分发的成本,并且出版物变得对广告商更有吸引力,因为它可以针对专门的人口统计并且链接到产品站点。
联机出版也存在缺点。计算机屏幕比纸张要差。使用与一个杂志纸张相同的质量,一个SVGA计算机屏幕仅显示其大约5分之一的信息。CRT(阴极射线管)和LCD(液晶显示器)均存在亮度和对比度的问题,特别地,当环境光比较强时。在纸张上的墨水是反射光的而不是发射光的,所以在环境光中,它是明亮的并且对比度很强。所以,人们有一个自然的偏爱,那就是阅读以一个被装订的、基于纸张形式的新闻报纸,杂志,目录,小册子,和其它出版物等。
已有的数字打印机,特别是数字喷墨打印机,不提供对打印号的页的装订。这样的设置将在小型办公室/家庭办公室(SOHO)环境中方便地提供文件装订。这还将使得在线出版的某些已有的缺点得到解决。然而,要使这种设置被广泛地采用,它不能太慢而招致不便。因此,把单独的页装订成册不能占用太多的文件生产时间。
发明内容
本发明的一个目的是提供适合于与数字打印机一起使用的用于将打印媒质的页面装订为装订文档的装置。因此,本发明提供一种用于将单张页面装订为装订文档的设备。该设备包括:
对齐装置,用于顺序地接收每页并且将它与预定位置对齐,及
装订装置,用于顺序地将第二张和随后各页面与先前对齐的页面装订起来。
优选地,该设备是一个打印机。在又一个优选方式中,装订装置具有一个粘结剂涂敷器和一个往复式压盘;
其中在使用中,该往复式压盘将每一页压向先前对齐的页面以便将它们粘接在一起。在某些实施例中,该压盘由一个连接至高速步进电机的封闭线环操纵。
在一个具体的优选方式中。该装订装置配备有一个在操作上连接至步进电机的控制的传感器,其中该传感器确定装订至文档的最后一页的位置以便允许该压盘正确地将下一页与它粘接。
根据某些实施例,该对齐装置包括一个用于与页面边缘啮合以便将它推至预定位置的机构。
根据其中该设备是一个打印机的优选实施例,该打印机适配于同时地打印全宽度页面。
应理解,通过提供一个用于将这些页面一张一张地装订到一个被装订文档上的装订装配组件,它可与打印机一起使用来产生装订文档而不需要在打印这个文档的单张页面所需要的时间之外再增加太多的时间。通过在打印机产生连续页面的同时不断地将它们装订,当文档的最后一页打印完毕时,该装订过程也就差不多完成了。
本发明允许以传统的具有吸引力的装订文档的形式而不是单页形式生产打印媒质,依靠现代打印机和计算机网络技术,本发明在新闻报纸,杂志,小册子等等的联机出版上有很多应用。将具体地参考网页系统来描述本发明。下面描述这个系统的一个概要。已经开发出允许很多数量的分布式用户通过被打印的媒质和光学传感器与网络上的信息进行交互式通信,由此根据需要从高速网络彩色打印机获得交互式的打印媒质。

在这个优选实施方式中,本发明被构造成使用一个基于网络网页的计算机系统进行工作,在后面对它进行了描述。以这样一个形式描述了这个系统,以减少当希望理解本发明的优选实施方式和方面进行工作的上下文时,对外部参考资料的需要。

这个网页笔与一个网页打印机,一个用互联网连接的、用于家庭、办公室或者移动使用的打印工具一起进行工作。这个笔是无线的,并且通过一个短距离无线链路与这个网页打印机进行安全的通信。
这个网页打印机能够根据需要或者周期性地发送个性化的新闻报纸,杂志,商品目录,小册子和其它出版物,所有这些出版物均以高质量进行打印,并且被用作交互式网页。与一个个人计算机不同,这个网页打印机是一个应用工具,例如,它可以被安装与在早间新闻首先被阅读的区域相邻的墙壁上,例如一个用户的厨房,靠近早餐桌的旁边,或者在靠近这天离开家的位置上。它也可以是桌面,台面,便携式的或者缩微的形式。
在这些使用点被打印的网页综合了纸张使用的方便性和一个交互式媒质的及时性与交互性。
因为这个网页打印机功能上的优越性,可以使这个网页系统更方便。在这些打印机的核心中,是在上面所列表出的、各种共同待审的和同时申请的申请中被描述的、基于高速微机械系统(MEMS)的喷墨(MemjetTM)打印头。在这个技术的优选实施方式中,相对高速度和高质量的打印已经降低到可以为更多的用户所使用的程度。在其优选形式中,一个网页出版具有一个传统的新闻杂志的物理特征,例如一组信纸大小的、两面使用全彩色进行打印的光滑页面,并且被装订在一起以更方便地进行翻阅和进行舒适的处理。
一个网页打印机以每分钟超过30张双面纸张的速率(即,每分钟超过60页)来打印照片质量的图象和杂志质量的文本。这些网页打印机的形式可以有多种,包括墙挂式的,桌面型的,便携式版本的,和袖珍型的。从这个网页系统的特点来说,可以设想,这个网页打印机的最可能商用的相关形式之一将是称作墙挂式打印机的、可以被安装在墙壁上的这个打印机。为了方便,将参考在附图中所显示的这个特定版本来详细描述本发明。
这个垂直安装的网页墙挂式打印机600被完全地显示在图1和图2中。如图2,2a,和19中最佳显示的,它使用双向81/2”MemjetTM打印引擎602和603,在A4大小的媒质上打印网页。它使用一个直的纸张路径,并且纸张604通过双向的打印引擎602和603,这两个打印引擎使用全色和全渗透来同时在一个纸张的两面进行打印。一个多DSP光栅图象处理器(RIP)将页面进行光栅化并且保存在内部存储器中,一对定制打印引擎控制器实时地解压缩,抖动和打印页面图象到这个双向打印头。
一个集成捆绑装订装配部件605沿每一个打印纸张的一个边缘施加一个胶条,当被按压时允许它能够粘结到前一个纸张。这产生了一个最终捆绑装订的文档618,其厚度可以从一张纸到几百张纸。这个捆绑装订装配部件将参考图13,14和15而在下面进行描述。

这个墙挂式打印机600的供电电压是一个内部110V/220V电源620,并且具有一个被使用4个螺丝固定到一个墙壁上或者静止的垂直表面上的金属安装盘621。金属盘621中的内嵌的、锁眼槽元件622允许被安装在这个打印机的后面的4个栓挂到这个盘上。如图2和19中最佳显示的,这个墙挂式打印机600被禁止用一个螺丝卸下来,该螺丝将这个托架压制件606定位到盘621上在这个媒质盘607后面的一个位置。
参考图16和17,这个墙挂式打印机600的侧面包括一个模块架624来容纳一个网络接口模块625,这个网络接口模块允许这个打印机被连接到这个网页网络,并且被连接到一个本地计算机或者网络。这个接口模块625可以在工厂中或者在现场被选择和安装,以提供根据这个用户所需要的接口。这个模块具有共同的连接器选项,例如:IEEE 1394(火警线)连接,标准的Centronics打印机端口连接或者一个混合的USB 2 649和以太650连接。这允许这个消费者能够将该墙挂式打印机600连接到一个计算机或者将它用作一个网络打印机。图17显示了这个模块625的部件分解图。接口模块PCB 651(具有金接触边缘条)通过一个边缘连接器654而直接插入到这个主墙挂式打印机PCB 612。不同的连接器结构被使用一个工具插入件652而容纳在这个模块设计中。在这个模块625任何一侧上的、可以放手指的凹槽允许可以方便地进行人工插入或者移去。
转到图19,主PCB 612被连接到这个托架606的后面。板612通过这个托架压制件606与这个接口模块625进行交互。PCB 612也携带对MemjetTM打印头705必要的外部接口电子电路。这包括具有两个32MBDRAM的一个主CPU,闪存,IEEE 1394接口芯片,6个电动机控制器,各种传感器连接器,接口模块PCB边缘连接器,电源管理,内部/外部收据连接器和一个QA芯片。
图8显示了存取纸张606和墨盒627的前开口。参考图18,纸张604被放入到一个带铰链的顶部盘607,并且被按压到一个被弹起的压盘666上。这个盘607被通过铰链700而安装到这个托架606上。每一个铰链具有一个基点,一个铰链杆和一个铰链侧面。在这个基点和纸张/媒质盘607上的枢轴这样来啮合这个杆和铰链侧面,以使这个纸张/媒质盘607以避免使提供软管646绞缠在一起的方式进行旋转。
在被关闭以前,纸张604位于边缘导轨667下,并且通过一个金属弹簧部件的作用而自动对齐到这个盘607的一侧。一个墨盒627通过一系列自密封连接器629被连接到一个用枢轴旋转的墨水连接器压制件628中。这个墨水连接器压制件628包括一个传感器,该传感器检测在这个墨盒上的一个QA芯片并且在打印前证实身份。当这个前开口被探测到已经被关闭时,一个释放机制允许这个被弹起的压盘666将纸张604压到一个用电动机带动的、媒质拾取辊子装配部件626。
图4显示了这个可替换的墨盒627的一个完整装配。它具有泡状腔或者小室来保存固定剂644,粘结剂630,和青色631,品红色632,黄色633,黑色634和红外墨水635。这个墨盒627也在一个基部压制件637中包括一个微型空气过滤器636。如图9中所显示的,这个微型空气过滤器636通过一个软管639与这个打印机内的一个空气泵638进行连接。这将被过滤的空气提供给打印头,以避免将微颗粒输入到这个MemjetTM打印头705,否则颗粒将阻塞打印头的喷嘴。通过将空气过滤器636包括在墨盒627中,过滤器的工作寿命可以有效地与墨盒的使用寿命绑在一起。这可以确保过滤器可以与这个墨盒一起被替换,而不是依靠这个用户以所需要的时间间隔来清除或者替换这个过滤器。另外,粘结剂和红外墨水与可见墨水和空气过滤器一起被补充,由此减少了因为一个消耗品材料被用完而频繁地中断这个打印机操作的次数。
墨盒627具有一个薄的墙壁外壳640。这个墨水泡状腔631到635和固定剂泡状腔644被将墨盒钩到一起的一个销钉645悬挂在这个外壳中。这单个胶泡状腔630被容纳在基部压制件637中。这个墨盒是完全可再生的产品,并且其容量可以用于打印和粘结3000页面(1500张纸)。
参考图2,2a,10,11和19,这个用电动机带动的媒质拾取辊子装配部件626将最上面的纸张直接从媒质盘607压到通过第一打印引擎602上的一个纸张传感器(没有显示),并且送到双向的MemjetTM打印头装配部件。
这两个MemjetTM打印引擎602和603被安装在沿直纸张路径上的、相对的、在线上依次排列的结构。这个纸张604通过集成的驱动拾取辊子626被拖入第一打印引擎602。纸张604的位置和大小被探测,并且进行全渗透打印。
固定剂被同时打印以有助于在最短可能时间内变干。
如图2a中最佳显示的,这两个MemjetTM打印引擎602和603包括一个可旋转的密封的,吸收墨水的和压盘装置669。这个密封装置密封MemjetTM打印头705,当它不被使用时。这个密封装置去掉密封并且进行旋转来产生一个集成的吸收墨水纸,该吸收墨水纸被用于在常规打印机启动维护中吸收从这个打印头705中喷射出来的墨水。它同时移动一个MemjetTM打印头705内部的内部密封装置以允许空气流入到起保护作用的、喷嘴屏蔽区域。这个装置的第三旋转将一个压盘(platen)的表面移动到一个位置中,以在打印期间支撑纸张604的一侧。
这张纸通过一组电动退出带钉轮子(沿直的纸张路径排列)退出第一MemjetTM打印引擎602,这组电动带钉轮子用作一个涂上橡胶的辊子。这些带钉的轮子接触“湿的”被打印表面,并且继续将这纸张604送入到第二MemjetTM打印引擎603。
这第二打印引擎603被安装在第一打印引擎的对面以打印这个纸张604的下面。
如图2,2a,9,13和14中所显示的,纸张604从双向的打印引擎602和603进入捆绑装订装配部件605。被打印的页面通过带一个纤维支撑辊子的一个电动带钉轮子轮轴670和具有带钉轮子和一个瞬时作用胶轮子的另一个可移动轮轴之间的空间。这可移动的轮轴/胶装配部件673被安装到一个金属支撑托架上,并且它在一个凸轮轴642的作用下,通过齿轮向前传送与驱动轴670接触。一个独立的电动机带动675这个凸轮轴。这两个电动机676均被MemjetTM打印头所控制。
胶轮装配部件673包括一个部分中空的轮轴679,该轮轴679具有一个用于与来自墨水墨盒627的胶水提供软管641联接的旋转联接器680。这个轮轴679连接到通过径向的孔的毛细管作用而吸附粘结剂的一个胶轮681。一个模制的外壳围绕这个胶轮681,并且在前面有一个开口。带枢轴的侧注塑683和被弹簧支撑的外部门684被连接到这个金属托架,并且当这个装配部件673的其余部分往前冲出时转动到一侧。这个动作将胶轮通过这个模制外壳的前面被暴露。张力弹簧685关闭这个装配部件并且在非活动期间内有效地密封这个胶轮681。
当纸张604进入到这个胶轮装配部件673中时,粘结剂被施加到前侧上的一个垂直边缘(除了一个文档的第一纸张),当它被向下传送到捆绑装订装配部件605时。应理解,这个结构在打印期间将粘结剂施加到每一个页面,以使这张纸通过打印机的移动不被中断或者被停止在一个独立的进行胶粘结的位置。这增加了打印机的速度,但是,它需要这些页面以“纵向”结构(即,在与长度方向边缘平行的一个方向上)移动通过这个打印机。这反过来又需要这个纸张盘,装订台和收集台也是一个纵向结构。这可能使这个打印机的整体长度太长,以致不能够被方便地安装到其空间有限的地方。在这些情形下,这个媒质盘,装订台和收集台可以被安排在一个“横向”方向上(与纸张移动方向平行的短侧),以缩短这个打印机的长度。但是,用胶进行粘结的装配部件仍然必须能够沿纸张的长度方向施加胶。在这个版本的墙挂式打印机中(没有显示),这个粘结剂被使用一个前后转动的胶条而施加到每一个页面的长度边缘。
这个“纵向”捆绑装订器装配部件605被最佳地显示在图13中。它具有一个金属支撑机架686,一个被弹起的、在4个横穿的棒上行进的模制装订压盘(platen)687,在纸张604已经移动通过后支撑这个文档618的一个模制的、有角度的压盘689,和具有支撑托架691的一个退出开口690。这个打印页面604被馈送进入,直到它位于这个退出开口690上。这个装订压盘687通过一个循环的轮子692系统和连接到一个电动的电缆绕线轴694上的一个被弹起的不锈钢电缆693而被高速地往前推进。当这个电缆绕线轴694被旋转时,电缆环693缩短并且将这个装订压盘687往前推送。这个电动轴694具有一个滑动离合器机制,并且提供必要的速度来将这个纸张604向前压到前一个纸张的后面,用胶粘结它/装订它,然后,在返回弹簧699的作用下返回到原位置以接受下一个被打印纸张。这个往复运动的压盘的一单个工作周期的时间少于2秒。
这个捆绑装订装配部件605将这些页面一张一张地装订到一个被装订文档,由此产生被装订文档,而不需要在打印这个文档的单张页面所需要的时间中增加太多的时间。另外,它在将纸按压到前一张纸上之前直接施加粘结剂。这比将粘结剂加到每一页面的后面,并且依次将每一页面按压到随后的页面上而更有效,因为在打印过程中的任何一个中断,例如重新补充纸张,可能会允许被施加到最后粘结的页面上的粘结剂的性能变差,并且变得不是很有效。
这个电缆693被弹起以允许正的压力被施加到前一张纸上,以帮助进行装订。另外,有角度的压盘689的顶部比基座浅,以在一个过轴结构中支撑这个文档681。
被连接到步进电动机的控制的一个传感器(没有显示)可以被用于确定被装订到这个文档上的最后一个页面的位置,以允许这个压盘准确地将下一页面粘结到其上。
一个纸张轻击锤(tapper)643将纸张604敲打到装订器605的一侧,当纸张604被传送通过到有角度的压盘689时。主PCB 612分别控制用于电缆绕线轴694的电动机695,696,和697,轻击锤643和退出开口690。
当一个文档618被装订并且被完成时,驱动退出开口690打开。一个填塞传感器(没有显示)被提供来检测文档堵塞或者其它禁止退出开口690关闭的干扰作用。这个轻击锤643也在打印文档618被弹出装订器605而进入收集盘619期间,对被打印文档618进行敲打对齐。在前下半部分压制件610上的模制薄片698与开口690一起进行工作来将被完成的文档618引导到收集盘619的后面,并且将任何其它的文档馈送入到该盘中而不需要碰撞已有的文档。可以提供多个灵活的薄片,每一个薄片具有不同的长度以容纳具有不同页面大小的文档。收集盘619是用透明塑料模制的,并且在一特定加载下从其插口中拔出。在3个侧面提供了用于去除文档的凹槽。
已经参考了具体的示例描述了本发明。该领域内的技术人员将很容易地认识到,可以有很多修改和变化,它们均不偏离该宽发明概念的精神和范围。
一个在操作上与步进电机的控制连接的传感器(未示出)可用于确定装订至文档的最后一页的位置以便允许该压盘正确地将下一页与它粘接。
当纸张604被传送通过到有角度的压盘689时,一个纸张轻击锤(tapper)643将纸张604敲打到装订器605的一侧。主PCB 612分别控制用于电缆绕线轴694、轻击锤643和退出开口690的电动机695,696,和697。
当一个文档618被装订和完成时,一个包括阻塞传感器的被驱动的退出开口690打开。这个轻击锤643也在文档618被弹出装订器605而进入收集盘619期间,对被打印文档618进行敲打对齐。在前下半部分压制件610上的模制薄片698与开口690一起进行工作来将被完成的文档618引导到收集盘619的后面,并且将任何其它的文档馈送入到该盘中而不会碰撞已有的文档。收集盘619是用透明塑料模制的,并且在一特定加载下从其插口中拔出。在3个侧面提供了用于移去文档的凹槽。
只参考了具体的示例描述了本发明。该领域内的技术人员将很容易地认识到,可以在不偏离该宽广发明概念的实质和范围的情况下实现很多变动和修改。
Claims (7)
1.一种用于将单张页面装订为装订文档的设备。该设备包括:
对齐装置,用于顺序地接收每页并且将它与一个预定位置对齐;以及
装订装置,用于顺序地将第二张和随后各页与先前对齐的页装订在一起。
2.如权利要求1的设备,其中该设备包括一个打印机。
3.如权利要求1的设备,其中该装订装置具有一个粘结剂涂敷器和一个往复式压盘;
其中在使用中,该往复式压盘将每一页压向先前对齐的页以便将它们粘接在一起。
4.如权利要求3的设备,其中该压盘由一个连接至高速步进电机的封闭线环操纵。
5.如权利要求4的设备,其中该装订装置配备有一个连接至步进电机的控制的传感器,其中该传感器确定装订至文档的最后一页的位置以便允许该压盘正确地将下一页与它粘接。
6.如权利要求1的设备,其中该对齐装置包括一个用于与页的边缘接触以便将它推至预定位置的机构。
7.如权利要求2的设备,其中该打印机适合于同时地打印全宽度页面。
