Relative clause / past progressive /can - may - could

1- relative clause

We use them to add information about the noun in the main clause .

Who /that We use both of them to refer to a This is the boy who / that fed the cat.
person

Which / that We use both of them to refer to I saw the cat which / that the boy fed.
objects/ animals … etc

Who / that >>> ‫لأل شخاص‬

Which / that >>>> ‫ حيوانات‬-‫اشياء‬

2- past progressive

Be ( was / were) + ing


I - she - he - it ( was )

They- we- you ( were)

We use past progressive for two cases .

1- when

*To talk about 2 events . The basic event interrupted by another one
‫حدثني في املاضي ولكن حدث ثانوي قطع الحدث الرئيسي‬

*the basic event in past progressive . The secondary one in past simple
‫الحدث الرئيسي يكون في املاضي املستمر والحدث الثانوي يكون في املاضي البسيط‬

*I was eating when she called me .

* They were watching tv when their mom asked them to


sleep .

2- while

*to talk about two events happening at the same time.


‫نستخدم كلمة بينما للتعبير عن حدثني متزامنني حصلو مع بعضهم في وقت واحد‬
‫‪* both actions will be in past progressive‬‬
‫الحدثني جميعها بتكون في املاضي املستمر *‬

‫‪Was / were + ing‬‬

‫‪I was eating while i was driving .‬‬


‫‪They were doing homework while they were watching a‬‬
‫‪movie .‬‬
‫‪The sun was shining while it was raining .‬‬

‫الحظي اذا استخدمنا ‪ when‬نستخدم زمن املاضي املستمر مع الحدث الرئيسي ومع الحدث االخر املاضي البسيط‬

‫اما في حال استخدام ‪ while‬نستخدم املاضي املستمر مع الحدثني ‪..‬‬

‫مجرد مايذكر في االختبار ‪ when‬ويكون الجزء االول في املاضي املستمر اذا ً نختار الجزء الثاني في املاضي البسيط او العكس‬
‫عندما يبدأون باملاضي فتختارين املاضي املستمر ‪،،‬‬
‫عندما تذكر ‪ while‬االمر سهل تضعني االفعال كلها في املاضي املستمر‬

‫‪Can / may / could‬‬

‫‪We use them to make permissions.‬‬

‫‪May / could are more formal‬‬


‫تعتبر رسمية اكثر من ‪can.‬‬

‫‪⛔ After all modal verbs use the basic verb‬‬


‫دبدائما ً وابدا ً نستخدم الفعل الرئيسي املجرد بعد األفعال الناقصه‬

‫‪With permission we have to be polite in case of agreement or refusal‬‬


‫البد ان يكون الرد لبق ‪ ،،‬في حالة الرفض او املوافقه ال نكتفي بقول نعم او ال‬

‫‪To say yes you can use‬‬
