About this audiobook
Tutoring the new star quarterback in exchange for a few fake dates won’t lead to anything more… right?
James
Football is my everything. I live, eat, breathe the sport. But when I transfer to McKee University to escape the distractions that nearly cost me my future in the NFL, I’m faced with another consequence: retake and pass the writing class I failed at my last college, or lose any chance I have at making it big. That’s where fellow senior Beckett Wood—gorgeous, stubborn, and just my type—comes in. She’s the key to my success in this class… but the price of her help is a fake relationship, and I never do things halfway.
Bex
I don't mess around with athletes, and at first glance, handsome, self-assured James Callahan is no exception. He wants me to help him pass the writing class we’re both stuck taking, but I'm too busy to take on yet another responsibility. But when his teammate--my cheating ex--won’t leave me alone, I realize I need to convince him I’ve moved on… and what better way than by pretending to be with James, who wants nothing to do with a real relationship?
Yet with every fake kiss, James pulls me deeper into a place that thrills and terrifies me.
Why does he make me feel alive like no one else has?
And why don’t I want it to end?
First Down is a spicy new adult sports romance with fake dating, dual POV, and a guaranteed HEA. It is the first in a series of linked, yet standalone, novels in the Beyond the Play series.

I enjoyed majority of this book but the main male character, James, ruins it for me. The amount of time he sabotages his own life and future for girls is insane, in my opinion. I get the whole “in love” thing but a healthy love does not include self sabotage in situations that would have been just as fine without doing so. James loses himself in any female he is with.. his dedication as initially admirable but quickly turned to annoyance and gross. It became hard to continue reading/listening to every time. I’m sure the author had great intentions and this is no shade to her, she created a character that she desired but I personally could not stand him.1 person found this helpful

It was okay. But I read it all before and it was executed better. It was called "the deal".
The couple was problematic. The heroine was so caught up in her self loathing and self worth issues and was just resigned for the majority if the book. She would not fight for herself or for her dreams or for her future.there was little agency on her Part. The hero was alright for the majority of the book but then blew it in the end. It is not a gesture of your love when you Sabotage and jepoerdize and throw away your future and propects for it. That Was not romantic in my eyes it was just stupid and immature. I was totally on Team DAD on this. The last third I only skipped bc I could not watch These idiots implode and call it love!!! I was seriously angry!!! - Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5

I absolutely loved this! It was so cute and steamy and had the perfect college angsty feels. Always love when fake dating occurs when the feelings are already brewing beforehand! And James was just *swoon* Looking forward to the next book in the series! - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5

Such a cute story! I love fake dating but I loved that they didn’t hold the fake dating to heart, once they started having real feelings for each other they just went for it! James is such a good guy! The best really! - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5

This is an interesting, entertaining read. James and Bex are intriguing, relatable, fun, interesting, entertaining characters. There were aspects of this story that I really enjoyed and others that weren’t as good. I enjoyed these characters and their romance. I love the family aspect of the story, most of the time. The brothers added fun and poignant moments to the story. The secondary characters added to the fabric of the story.
I enjoyed the audio version and the narrators. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5

Stopped reading after chapter 5. The MMC is way too full of himself, expecting every woman including the dean to swoon over him.1 person found this helpful
