The ground I) I) is composed of a number of figures various in shape, with irregular, zig' zag, right-lined borders, ornamented by various small figured work consisting of circular and fret work, short-lined, rectangular, diamond, and other geometric ornaments. These figures are traversed by an irregular and seattered network of branches, a a, bearing various flower and other forms, forming an open design.
A is a large flower-figure with a heart-shaped center and pointed leaves at the base and sides,
and forming the crown. From the same stem projects to the left the two-leafgroup 0. Above, on the same stem, is B, with a diamond center, and surrounding petals, with a projecting blossom. Above B is the scattered flower group 0 d. To theright,on the same stem, is the large figure C, with heart-shaped center and surrounding pointed leaves, forming the crown. From C below projects a stem beating the circular flower group 6, with a leaf projecting to the left above and a flowering twig to theleft below. From the center of 6 projects to the right astem bearing D, a large flower figure with heart-shaped center, surrounded by pointed radial leaves. Above 0 and on the same stem is the small flower group f, from which projects a stem bearing the figure E, having a central bell-shaped flower surrounded by small pointed leaves. Abovefis the large figure F, having a center of circular flowers surrounded by radial pointed leaves. From F on the left 5 projects the flower figure G, somewhat similar to E, and above the circular flower g. Above 9 is the large figure H, havingashield-shaped center with surrounding pointed leaves and a projecting bud spray. From F on the right projects the circular flower and flower spray l1 and the large figure K, having a central figure with large petals and pointed leaves around and above, and above F the scattered leaf-andflowergroup/c. Above K is the circular flowerand-bud group 1. Above K to the leftis the large pointed petal and leaf flower L, (shown in part at each end of the 'fliotograph.) Connected with L on the right is the flower M, similar to B, with the circular flowergroup above at. Connected with L on the left is the stamened flower N, and above that the scattered circular flower-and-blossom clusters n and 0.
O is a large pointed-leaf figure with a heartshaped center. P is a smaller pointed-leaf figure. 1) and q are scattered groups of circular flowers and leaves. Q is a large pointed-leaf figure. Ris a larger one, with diamond-shaped center. S is a smaller leaffigurc above 0. 1' is a group of circular flowers.
I claim 1. The design for carpets, 'consisting of the ground I), substantially as shown.
2. The design for carpets, consisting of the figuresABC D E FGH KL MNOP QR S c d cfg h is I m n 0 p q r and stem a, with connected parts, substantially as shown.
3. The design for carpets, consisting of the figuresABCDEFGHKLMNOPQ R S c d e fg h is Z m a o p q r and stem 0, with connected parts and ground I), substantially as shown.
