UNITED STATES PATENT O.. 'I'
VVINTHROP L. JACOBS, OF JERSEY Cl'IY, NEW JERSEY, ASSIGNOR TO HAR l FORD CARPET COMPANY, OF HARTFORD, CONNECTlCUT.
DESIGN FOR CARPET.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 12,208, dated March 29, 1881. Application filed February *10, 1881. Terni of patent 3l years.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, WTNTHROP L. JACoBs, of Jersey City, in the county ot' Hudson and State of N ew Jersey, have invented a new and original Design for Carpets, ot' which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a new and original design for carpets and similar fabrics; and it consists in the novel grouping and coniiguration ot' ligures hereinafter more fully de scribed.
The accompanying photograph illustrates a face view of a carpet having my new design.
The ligure A resembles leaves surrounding and growing out of av shield-shaped center,
and is connected by a stem with the circularv flower-like ligure m, which is also connected with the serrated ligure H, and has projecting from it the flower-figure g, and the branch 'n with flowers thereon. This branch 'n extends toward the ligure E, resembling a large bud,
' which is connected by a stem with the circular ligure d.
On a stem projecting from the ligure d is another bud-like ligure, b, and a similar stem connects the ligure d with the circular deeplyserrated ligure K.
From the stem connecting d and A grows the branch-like ligure R, and also .the ligure i, composed of smaller rectangular figures.
The ligure D is a flower-like ligure, from which extends the budding branch F.
On a stem extending from D is set the flowerigure G, and from the same stem projects the ligure a, joiued'by a stem to the circular serrated ligure H, also connected by a stem with the leaf-like figure P.
The triangular serrated ligure I is set on the stem, from which grows also the leaf-like ligure J, connected by the same stem to the ligure K.
M is a flowering branch-like ligure, and p is a flower-ligure on a stem near the ligure M.
N is a circularpatterned figure, having near it the oval ligure q, made up oi' smaller iigures. A somewhat similar gnre,f, is set on a stem connecting itr with the' ligure L, having pointed projections at its corners.
C is a circular rosette-shaped figure.
B is a ligure consisting ol' a center surrounded by branching leaves and flowers, having near it the lowering branch Q, and connected by a stein with the branch h. From this same stem projects the leaf-like ligure O.
The whole design isr on a patterned background consisting ol' rectangles within small circles, and gives the etect of vines or stems running irregularly across thebackground, and bearing on them the ligures described.
