To all whom lit may concern:
Beit known that I, HENRY H UNT, of Greenville, in the county of Hudson and State of New Jersey, have invented a new a nd original 5 Design for Carpets, of which the following is a. specification.
This invention relates to a new and original design for carpets and similar fabrics; and it consists in the novel grouping and configurato tion offigures hereinafter niorc fullyY described.
The accompanying photograph illustrates a face view of a carpet having my new design.
A is a large lower-andlenf` group, with a` central vase-like figure anda bracket-like support, all set on a stein.
Bis a group set on a double stein, with an ornamental scalloped support and flowers and leaves arranged along a forked stem above.
O is a large flower-and-leaf group set on a 2o stein projecting from B, with two ornamental boxlike supports, a lattice-like ligure, and flowers and leaves set on stems springingfroin the box-like figures and traversing the surrounding parts of the design.
D is an open flower figure set on the main stein from O.
E is a small flower group Seton a stem from D. It consists of a scalloped supporting flgure, with buds, flowers, and leaves.
F is a vase-like figure serrated below and set on a stein from D, having tlowers projecting from it and two stems, on one of which A is set and on a branch ofthe other B is set.
G is an open flower figure with projecting sprays and buds, and is set ena branch ofthe stem from F, shown in part on one side and in part on the other side of the design.
H consists of a bracket-like ligure to the right, in the center a wreath-lille figure encircling a sprig of leaves, and terminating above 4o and to the right in an open flower with petals, the whole sct on a branch ofthe stent from F.
K consists of' an open tlower and leaves, and is set on a branch stein from F.
L is a bulb-like flower with projecting leaves and buds, and is set on a stein from l).
M is an open flower with leaves, set on the stein from L, shown on the other side of the design.
N is a group of three open flower figures 5o with projecting buds Iand leaves, all arranged alonga stem springing f'roin the base ot'A, shown in part on one side and in part on the other side ofthe design.
O is a group of" small ilowcr figures arranged along the stein from C and occupying the field immediately above C.
The whole effect of the design is that of' a vine, branch, erstem running irregularly across a background, a, composed of small circular 6o figures with star-shaped centers, the vines or branches bearing upon them at intervals the various figures described.
I claim- 1. The design for earpets,eonsisting of' the 65 figures A B C D E F G H K L M N O and connected parts, substantially as shown.
2. The design for carpets, consisting of the figures A B O D E F Gr H K L M N O, with connected parts, and ground a, substantially 7o as shown.
