SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 13,813, dated March 27, 1883.

To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, WINTHROP L. JACOBS, of East Orange, Essex county, New Jersey, have invented a new and original Design for Carpets, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to a new and original design for carpets and similar fabrics; and it consists in the novel grouping and configuration of figures hereinafter more fully described.

The accompanying photograph illustrates a face view of a carpet having my new design.

The face of the design is traversed by a network of angular stems, bearing, variously disposed along their length and on short projecting stems, various flower and leaf figures, as

shown in the photograph. These fignreshave, as a characteristic common to most of them, marked serrated outlines. A, B, C, D, E, F, and G are the larger flower-like figures, and H, K, and L the larger leaf-like figures, all or which are clearly shown in the photograph. In the spaces between these larger figures are scattered along the connecting stems various smaller gem and leaf shapes, as shown.
