Be it known that I, Wmn-mor L. JACOBS, of East; Orange; New Jersey, have invented a new and original Design for Carpets, of which the following is aspccification, reference being bad. to the accompanying photograph, which forms a. part. of the same.

The invention relates to a design to be worked into ornpon'surfaces, such as carpets or similar fabrics; and it; consists in the novel configuration and grouping of figures herein specifically shown and claimed.

The accompanying photograph is a face view of a carpet, showing my new design.

The ground a is broken up into a number of irregularly-shaped, right-lined panels, varionsly ornamented by small mural and other ornamentatious. On this ground, at considcrnble distances apart, are scattered various loose sprigs of flowers and leaves. of star-shaped flowers and flag-like leave B is a scattered group of star shepcd flowers, blossoms, and short'leoves. C is u sprig of open flowers and oval leaves. D is n sprig of smaller flowers and leaves. spraysoomplete the design.

I claim- The design for a carpet, substantially as shown and described.
