JAMES L. FOLSOM, OF BROOKLYN, NEW YORK, ASSIUNOR TO THE HART- FORD CARPET COMPANY, OF HARTFORD, CONNECTICUT.
DESIGN FOR A CARPET.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 13,737, dated March20, 1883.
Application filed February 14,1883. Term of patent 3% years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JAMES L. FOLSOM, of Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented a new and original 5 Design for Uarpets, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a new and original design for carpets and similar fabrics; and it consists in the novel grouping and configura- IO tion oftigures hereinafter more fully described.
The accompanying photograph illustrates a face view of a carpet having my new design.
The ground a is ornamented with squares arranged diagonally and at regular intervals,
[5 with ornamental spaces bounded by fret-work and filled in with variousdiagonally-arranged geometric figures. Over this ground is a leaf and flower system, b, consisting of a system of stems running loosely over the face of this design, and bearing along their length leaves in 20 running groups, and small clusters of starshaped flowers, as shown in the photograph.
I claim- 1. The design for a ground for a carpet, consisting of the ground a, substantially as shown 2 5 and described.
2. The design for a carpet, consisting of the leaf and flower system 11, substantially as shown and described.
3. The design for a carpet. eonsistingof the 0 ground a and the leaf and flower system 1), substantially as shown and described.
