DESIGN FOR A CARPET.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 15,867, dated February 24, 1885.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, \V. L. JACOBS, of East Orange, New Jersey, have invented a new and original Design for Carpets, of which the fol- 5 lowing is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying photograph, which forms a part of the same.

The invention relates to a design to he worked into or upon surfaces such as carpets m or similar fabrics; and it consists in the novel configuration and grouping of figures herein specifically shown and claimed.

The accompanying photograph is a face view of a carpet showing my new design.

1 The design has several large symmetrical figures all closely ornamented and carried on connecting stem-work of varying ornamentation resembling border-work. The space between these larger figures is closely filled in with smaller gem and leaf figures carried on 10 the same stem-work and variously ornamented and disposed, all as clearly shown in the photograph.

I claim- The design for a. carpet, substantially as 25 shown and described.
