To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that 1, WINTHBOP L. JACOBS, of East Orange, New Jersey, have invented a new and original Design for Carpets, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying photograph, which forms a, part of the same.

The inveution"relates to a design to be worked into or upon surfaces, such-as carpets or similar fabrics; and it consists in the novel configoration and grouping of figures herein specifically shown and claimed.

' The accompanying photograph is aface view of a carpet, showing my new design.

The ground ais closely filled in with asmall mural ornamentation. Over this ground are various large flower-like figures, with interspersed smaller flower and leaf-like figures, all

' connected bya network of inconspicuous running stems. Prominent among the larger figures .are the figures marked A, B, O, and D in the photograph. These fi ures are not intended to include the stems t lat spring out of them. A is a large three-part radial figure with a star-shaped Center. B is a large symmetrical figure resembling an opening flower. O is a large symmetrical figure resembling a bulb flower. D is a symmetrical open figure. The photograph clearly shows the whole design and the details of the separate figures.

I claim- The design for a carpet, substantially as shown and described.
