Abstract

이 시점에서, 시청자는 더 많은 비디오-온-디맨드 프로그램을 브라우즈하기 위해 프로그램 가이드 디스플레이(70)로 복귀하거나, 또는 원한다면, 시청자가 TV로 나가기 키를 눌러 프로그램 가이드를 탈출할 수 있다(단계 105).
만일 선택된 프로그램이 즉시 개시되도록 설정되는 경우, 프로그램 가이드는 즉시 프로그램을 제공한다, 그러나, 선택된 프로그램이 나중의 시간을 위해 주문된 경우, 프로그램 가이드는 그 나중의 시간에 프로그램을 자동으로 개시할 수 있다.

  1. 메인 디스플레이 스크린(main display screen)을 구비하는 시청자 텔레비전 장치 상에 구현되는 대화형 텔레비전 프로그램 가이드 시스템을 사용하기 위한 방법으로서,
    상기 메인 디스플레이 스크린 상에 적어도 하나의 프로그램 리스트를 포함하는 부분적 스크린 프로그램 가이드 디스플레이 및 텔레비전 프로그램을 동시에 디스플레이하는 단계;
    시청자가 상기 프로그램 가이드 디스플레이 내에 디스플레이되는 상기 적어도 하나의 프로그램 리스트를 브라우즈(browse through)할 수 있도록 하는 단계;
    상기 프로그램 가이드 디스플레이 내에 디스플레이되는 상기 적어도 하나의 프로그램 리스트 중 제1 프로그램 리스트가 비디오 온 디맨드 프로그램으로서 이용 가능함을 표시하는 단계;
    상기 시청자가 비디오 온 디맨드 프로그램으로서 이용 가능한 것으로 표시된 상기 제1 프로그램 리스트를 선택할 수 있도록 하는 단계; 및

  7. 메인 디스플레이 스크린을 구비하는 시청자 텔레비전 장치 상에 구현되는 대화형 텔레비전 프로그램 가이드 시스템으로서,
    상기 메인 디스플레이 스크린 상에 적어도 하나의 프로그램 리스트를 포함하는 부분적 스크린 프로그램 가이드 디스플레이 및 텔레비전 프로그램을 동시에 디스플레이하는 수단;
    시청자가 상기 프로그램 가이드 디스플레이 내에 디스플레이되는 상기 적어도 하나의 프로그램 리스트를 브라우즈할 수 있도록 해주는 수단;
    상기 프로그램 가이드 디스플레이 내에 디스플레이되는 상기 적어도 하나의 프로그램 리스트 중 제1 프로그램 리스트가 비디오 온 디맨드 프로그램으로서 이용 가능함을 표시하는 수단;
    상기 시청자가 비디오 온 디맨드 프로그램으로서 이용 가능한 것으로 표시된 상기 제1 프로그램 리스트를 선택할 수 있도록 해주는 수단; 및
    상기 시청자가 비디오 온 디맨드 프로그램으로서 이용 가능한 것으로 표시된 상기 선택된 제1 프로그램을 위해 주문할 수 있도록 해주는 수단
    을 포함하는 대화형 텔레비전 프로그램 가이드 시스템.
  8. 제7항에 있어서, 상기 시청자가 상기 주문된 제1 프로그램의 시작 시간을 설정할 수 있도록 해주는 수단을 더 포함하는 대화형 텔레비전 프로그램 가이드 시스템.
  9. 제7항에 있어서, 상기 프로그램 가이드 내의 상기 적어도 하나의 프로그램 리스트는 카테고리에 의해 편성되는 것인, 대화형 텔레비전 프로그램 가이드 시스템.
  10. 제9항에 있어서, 원격 제어 키들을 이용하여, 상기 시청자가 상기 프로그램 가이드 디스플레이 내의 이용 가능한 카테고리들을 브라우즈할 수 있도록 해주는 수단을 더 포함하는 대화형 텔레비전 프로그램 가이드 시스템.
  11. 제7항에 있어서, 상기 시청자가 원격 제어 키를 누를 때, 상기 시청자에게 비디오 온 디맨드 프로그램으로서 이용 가능한 것으로 표시된 상기 제1 프로그램에 대한 더욱 상세한 정보를 제공하는 수단을 더 포함하는 대화형 텔레비전 프로그램 가이드 시스템.
  12. 제11항에 있어서, 상기 정보 제공 수단에 응답하여, 상기 메인 디스플레이 스크린 상에 상세한 정보 스크린을 디스플레이하는 수단을 더 포함하는 대화형 텔레비전 프로그램 가이드 시스템.
