【解決手段】複数枚の光学フィルムの少なくとも1つの端面を互いに突き合わせてなる組み合わせ型光学フィルムを、複数層積層してなる積層組み合わせ型光学フィルムであって、 各層の組み合わせ型光学フィルムの少なくとも1組の突き合わせ部が、組み合わせ型光学フィルムに対する法線方向において重ならないように積層されていることを特徴とする積層組み合わせ型光学フィルム。

突き合わせ端面は、互いの形状が略合致し、かつ突き合わせ端面は、光学フィルムの表面および裏面に対して、垂直にならない箇所を少なくとも有し、
突き合わせ端面は、光学フィルムの法線方向で、表面から裏面に向けて、連続した隙間を有しないように突き合わされていることを特徴とする組み合わせ型光学フィルム(1)、に関する。

偏光板として、ポリビニルアルコール系偏光子(厚さ25μm)の両面に保護フィルムとしてトリアセチルセルロース(片面40μm、両面で厚さ80μm)をポリビニルアルコール系接着剤で貼り合わせたものを用いた。
実施例1において、偏光板として、その1つの端面(縦側)を、加工端面と偏光板に対する法線方向とのなす傾斜角度が30°となるように加工したものを用いたこと以外は実施例1と同様にして、組み合わせ型偏光板を作成した。
実施例1に記載の偏光板の片面に、シリコーン樹脂の微粒子を混入したヘイズ値80%の拡散機能を有する粘着剤を塗布して拡散層(厚み25μm)を形成した。
実施例1で作成した偏光板を、実施例1と同様にして加工した後、当該加工端面を突き合わせた。次いで、突き合わせ部の隙間に、塩化メチレンを、筆を用いてになじませてトリアセチルセルロースを溶解した後、乾燥により固化して接合して、組み合わせ型偏光板を作成した。
実施例1に記載の偏光板の片面に、シリコーン樹脂の微粒子を混入したヘイズ値80%の拡散機能を有する粘着剤を塗布して拡散層(厚み25μm)を形成した。
実施例1で作成した偏光板の1つの端面(縦側)を、偏光板に対して端面が垂直になるように加工した。これらの加工端面を突き合わせた。次いで、突き合わせ部の隙間に、塩化メチレンを、筆を用いてになじませてトリアセチルセルロースを溶解した後、乾燥により固化して接合して、組み合わせ型偏光板を作成した。
実施例1で作成した偏光板の1つの端面(縦側)を、偏光板に対して端面が垂直になるように加工した。これらの加工端面を、突き合わせ部の隙間が10μmになるように、突き合わせた。次いで、突き合わせ部の隙間に、シアノアクリレート系接着剤(アロンアルファ,東亜合成株式会社製,接着剤の屈折率は1.52であり、偏光板(トリアセチルセルロースの部分)の屈折率1.49との差は0.03である)を用いて隙間に導入した後、接着剤を固化して接合して、組み合わせ型偏光板を作成した。なお、前記シアノアクリレート系接着剤では、トリアセチルセルロースが部分的に溶解して、その部分は、溶解・固化される。
実施例1で作成した偏光板の1つの端面(縦側)を、偏光板に対して端面が垂直になるように加工した。これらの加工端面を、突き合わせ部の隙間が10μmになるように、突き合わせた。別途、上記と同様にして、突き合わせ部の隙間が10μmになるように、突き合わせた。これら2つの、組み合わせ型偏光板を、相互の突き合わせ部が重ならないように重ねて(突き合わせ部の間隔は100mm)、積層組み合わせ型偏光板を作成した。
位相差板として、熱可塑性飽和ノルボルネン系樹脂(アートン,JSR社製)の一軸延伸フィルム(厚さ80μm,正面位相差140nm)を用いた。当該位相差板の片面には、厚み25μmのアクリル系粘着剤層を設けて粘着剤層付位相差板とした。
実施例1で作成した偏光板の1つの端面(縦側)を、偏光板に対して端面が垂直になるように加工した。これらの加工端面の隙間が10μmになるように突き合わせて、組み合わせ型偏光板を作成した。
実施例1において、偏光板を、突き合わせ部の隙間が50μmになるように突き合わせたこと以外は実施例1と同様にして、組み合わせ型偏光板を作成した。
実施例9において、粘着剤層付位相差板を、突き合わせ部の隙間が50μmになるように突き合わせたこと以外は実施例1と同様にして、組み合わせ型位相差板を作成した。
実施例および比較例で得られた組み合わせ型偏光板(積層の場合を含む)または組み合わせ型粘着剤層付位相差板について下記評価を行った。結果を表1に示す。
液晶セル(LC−26GD1,シャープ株式会社製のAQUOSの液晶パネルから、偏光板、位相差板等の光学フィルムを取り除いたもの)の片側(視認側)に偏光板(NPF−SEG1224DU:日東電工(株)製)を貼り合わせ、もう一方の側(バックライト側)には組み合わせ型偏光板を貼り合わせた液晶パネルとした。液晶セルの両側の偏光板はクロスニコルに配置した。当該液晶パネルの組み合わせ型偏光板の側をバックライト(上記同様のLC−26GD1から取り出したもの)上に配置し、液晶表示装置とした。液晶表示装置について、電圧をかけない状態(黒表示)における隙間(突き合わせ部)からの光モレを下記基準で目視評価した。
液晶セル(LC−26GD1,シャープ株式会社製のAQUOSの液晶パネルから、偏光板、位相差板等の光学フィルムを取り除いたもの)の片側(視認側)に偏光板(NPF−SEG1224DU:日東電工(株)製)を貼り合わせ、もう一方の側(バックライト側)には、組み合わせ型粘着剤層付位相差を貼り合わせ、さらに、前記同様の偏光板を貼り合わせた液晶パネルとした。液晶セルの両側の偏光板はクロスニコルに配置した。バックライト側の偏光板の吸収軸は、前記組み合わせ型位相差板の遅相軸と略平行になるように配置した。当該液晶パネルの組み合わせ型粘着剤層付位相差板の側をバックライト(上記同様のLC−26GD1から取り出したもの上に配置し、液晶表示装置とした。液晶表示装置について、電圧をかけない状態(黒表示)における隙間(突き合わせ部)からの光モレを下記基準で目視評価した。
また輝度計(CA−1500,ミノルタ製)により、突き合わせ部の中心輝度A(cd/cm2)および周辺部輝度B(cd/cm2)を測定した。これらの値から差(中心輝度A−周辺部輝度B)を算出した。なお、組み合わせ型光学フィルム偏光板では、突き合わせ部(スジ)について中心輝度Aが測定され、突き合わせ部以外について周辺部輝度Bが測定される。一方、積層組み合わせ型光学フィルム偏光板では、突き合わせ部が複数できるため、中心輝度Aは、複数の突き合わせ部のなかで測定した輝度のなかで最も明るいものをものとし、周辺部輝度Bは突き合わせ部(スジ)を避けた場所について測定したものとした。組み合わせ型光学フィルム位相差板、積層組み合わせ型光学フィルム位相差板についても前記同様である。
サンプルとの距離50cmから目視し、突き合わせ部の光モレおよび突合せにより生じるスジについて、下記3段階で評価を行った。
◎:正面、斜め方向共に突き合わせ部を視認できない。
○:正面観察で、突き合わせ部を視認できないが、斜め方向から視認できる。
×:正面観察で、突き合わせ部を視認できる。

Claims (18)
- 複数枚の光学フィルムの少なくとも1つの端面を互いに突き合わせてなる組み合わせ型光学フィルムを、複数層積層してなる積層組み合わせ型光学フィルムであって、
各層の組み合わせ型光学フィルムの少なくとも1組の突き合わせ部が、組み合わせ型光学フィルムに対する法線方向において重ならないように積層されていることを特徴とする積層組み合わせ型光学フィルム。 - 少なくとも1層の組み合わせ型光学フィルムでは、その突き合わせ端面は、互いの形状が略合致し、かつ突き合わせ端面は、光学フィルムの表面および裏面に対して、垂直にならない箇所を少なくとも有し、
突き合わせ端面は、光学フィルムの法線方向で、表面から裏面に向けて、連続した隙間を有しないように突き合わされていることを特徴とする請求項1記載の積層組み合わせ型光学フィルム。 - 突き合わせ端面は、光学フィルムの表面から裏面に向けて平面傾斜していることを特徴とする請求項2記載の積層組み合わせ型光学フィルム。
- 突き合わせ端面の傾斜角度は、当該端面と光学フィルムに対する法線とのなす角度(θ)が1〜89°であることを特徴とする請求項3記載の積層組み合わせ型光学フィルム。
- 前記突き合わせ端面の傾斜角度をθ(°)、突き合わせ部におけるフィルム間の平均隙間をt(μm)、光学フィルムの厚さをd(μm)としたとき、
t≦d×tanθ、
1°≦θ≦60°、
の関係を満足することを特徴とする請求項3記載の積層組み合わせ型光学フィルム。 - 少なくとも1層の組み合わせ型光学フィルムでは、その突き合わせ端面は、光学フィルムと略同一の屈折率を有する接合剤で接合されていることを特徴とする請求項1〜5のいずれかに記載の積層組み合わせ型光学フィルム。
- 少なくとも1層の組み合わせ型光学フィルムでは、その突き合わせ端面は、光学フィルムを溶解できる有機溶剤による溶解、固化により接合されていることを特徴とする請求項1〜5のいずれかに記載の積層組み合わせ型光学フィルム。
- 少なくとも1層の組み合わせ型光学フィルムでは、その突き合わせ端面は、熱融着により接合されていることを特徴とする請求項1〜5のいずれかに記載の積層組み合わせ型光学フィルム。
- 表面および/または裏面の組み合わせ型光学フィルムを形成する、複数枚の光学フィルムは、その表面、裏面および中面のいずれか1つの面に、拡散層および/または光学フィルムを有することを特徴とする請求項1〜8のいずれかに記載の積層組み合わせ型光学フィルム。
- 請求項1〜8のいずれかに記載の積層組み合わせ型光学フィルムの表面、裏面および中面のいずれか1つの面に、拡散層および/または光学フィルムを設けたことを特徴とする積層組み合わせ型光学フィルム。
- 各層の光学フィルムの厚さが、500μm以下であることを特徴とする請求項1〜10のいずれかに記載の積層組み合わせ型光学フィルム。
- 1層の組み合わせ型光学フィルムにおける光学フィルムは、偏光子であり、
他の少なくとも1層の組み合わせ型光学フィルムにおける光学フィルムは、偏光子の保護フィルムであり、偏光板を形成していることを特徴とする請求項1〜11のいずれか記載の積層組み合わせ型光学フィルム。 - 各層の組み合わせ型光学フィルムに用いる光学フィルムは、いずれも偏光板であることを特徴とする請求項1〜11のいずれかに記載の積層組み合わせ型光学フィルム。
- 請求項12記載の各層組み合わせにより偏光板を形成した、積層組み合わせ型偏光板、または請求項13記載の各層の組み合わせ型光学フィルムとして偏光板を用いた積層組み合わせ型偏光板であって、
当該積層組み合わせ型偏光板は、当該積層組み合わせ型偏光板を液晶セルのバックライト側に配置し、一方、液晶セルの視認側には、偏光板(組み合わせていない)をクロスニコルに配置した液晶パネルについて測定した、積層組み合わせ型偏光板の突き合わせ部の中心輝度A(cd/cm2)と周辺部輝度B(cd/cm2)の差(中心輝度A−周辺部輝度B)が、20cd/cm2以下であることを特徴とする請求項12または13記載の積層組み合わせ型光学フィルム。 - 各層の組み合わせ型光学フィルムに用いる光学フィルムは、いずれも位相差板であることを特徴とする請求項1〜11のいずれかに記載の積層組み合わせ型光学フィルム。
- 請求項15記載の、各層の組み合わせ型光学フィルムとして位相差板を用いた、積層組み合わせ型位相差板であって、
当該積層組み合わせ型位相差板は、当該積層組み合わせ型位相差板を液晶セルに隣接させてバックライト側に配置したものの両側に偏光板(組み合わせていない)をクロスニコルに配置した液晶パネルであって、当該バックライト側の偏光板の吸収軸が、前記積層組み合わせ型位相差板の遅相軸と略平行になるように配置されている液晶パネルについて測定した、積層組み合わせ型位相差板の突き合わせ部の中心輝度A(cd/cm2)と周辺部輝度B(cd/cm2)の差(中心輝度A−周辺部輝度B)が、20cd/cm2以下であることを特徴とする請求項15記載の積層組み合わせ型光学フィルム。 - 表面および/または裏面の組み合わせ型光学フィルムを形成する、複数枚の光学フィルムには、易剥離型の保護フィルムが装着されており、組み合わせ型光学フィルムにおける突き合わせ端面に対応して、隣り合う前記保護フィルム上には接着テープが貼付されており、前記保護フィルム同士がつなぎ合わせていることを特徴とする請求項1〜9または11〜16のいずれかに記載の積層組み合わせ型光学フィルム。
- 請求項1〜17のいずれかに記載の積層組み合わせ型光学フィルムが用いられていることを特徴とする画像表示装置。
