Claims (40)

- 前記カテーテル本体の前記遠位部分と、前記超音波伝達ワイヤと、前記ガイドワイヤとが、前記血管の複数の屈曲部に付随して適合しながら、該複数の屈曲部を一緒にかまたは連続的に通過し得る、請求項18に記載の超音波カテーテル。
- 血管内の閉塞物を破壊するための超音波カテーテルであって、該超音波カテーテルは、患者の身体のアクセス部位から、閉塞物に隣接する標的部位へとガイドされ得、該超音波カテーテルは、以下:
細長い可撓性のカテーテル本体であって、該カテーテル本体は、近位部分、遠位部分、少なくとも1つの管腔、および該管腔内に配置されたガイドワイヤ管を有し、該近位部分は、該遠位部分より堅い、細長い可撓性カテーテル本体;
該カテーテル本体の該管腔を通って長手軸方向に延びる、超音波伝達部材;
遠位ヘッドであって、該遠位ヘッドは、該超音波伝達部材の該遠位端に連結され、そして該カテーテル本体の該遠位端に隣接して配置される、遠位ヘッド;ならびに

該カテーテル本体の該管腔を通って長手軸方向に延びる、超音波伝達部材;

該超音波カテーテルの遠位端を、該血管内の閉塞物に隣接させて位置決めする工程;および
超音波エネルギーを該超音波伝達部材に伝達して、該閉塞物を、複数の閉塞物断片に破壊する工程であって、該伝達する工程は、超音波エネルギーを該ガイドワイヤに伝達する工程を包含する、工程、
を包含する、方法。 - 前記閉塞物断片の少なくとも数個を、前記超音波カテーテルを介して、前記血管から除去する工程をさらに包含する、請求項33に記載の方法。
- 前記超音波カテーテルが、前記ガイドワイヤに沿って進めされる、請求項33に記載の方法。
- 前記ガイドワイヤが、前記カテーテルを通過させられる、請求項33に記載の方法。
- 前記カテーテルおよび前記ガイドワイヤが、前記血管を通して一緒に進められる、請求項33に記載の方法。
- 前記超音波カテーテルが、約1.0cm以下の半径を有する少なくとも1つの屈曲部を通して進められる、請求項33に記載の方法。
- 前記超音波カテーテルおよび前記ガイドワイヤが、前記血管における複数の屈曲部に沿って進められ、該カテーテルのカテーテル本体と、前記超音波伝達部材と、前記ガイドワイヤとが、該複数の屈曲部に付随して適合するために十分に可撓性である、請求項33に記載の方法。
- 前記超音波カテーテルの近位ハウジングに半径方向の力を付与して、該超音波カテーテルの前記遠位端を、前記血管内で、半径方向に曲げる工程をさらに包含する、請求項33に記載の方法。
