Abstract
883,823. Drafting devices for spinning frames. FAIRBAIRN LAWSON COMBE BARBOUR Ltd. Dec. 20, 1957 [Jan. 31, 1957], No. 3373/57. Class 120(2) A drafting device for bast fibres includes a breast plate and a roller and apron arrangement together providing an extended slip draft zone. The breast plate 16 is located between the back rollers 5, 6 and on apron roller 2 that serves to drive the apron 1 which also passes over a freerunning roller 7 adjustable by a screw 18. A roller 9 covered with resilient material, such as rubber, is adjustable relative to the apron I by means of a plate 13 which can be fixed at any required position by bolts passing through slots 19; the roller shaft 11 is also adjustable in a slot 12. Either the apron 1 or the roller 9 may be provided with raised edges so that the sliver runs in a channel and the roller 7 may also have raised edges. In order to maintain the apron central on the roller 2, the roller may be slightly convex. Specifications 591,792 and 795,966 are referred to.
