820,239. Apron drafting arrangements. SKF KUGELLAGERFABRIKEN G.m.b.H. May 22, 1957 [June 25, 1956], No. 16302/57. Classes 120(2) Double apron drafting mechanism in which the aprons run over feed rollers, apron bars and a pair of intermediate rollers has the intermediate rollers so mounted as to provide a firm drafting nip or light fibre control pressure. The arm 9 that carries a top roller holder 13 in which upper intermediate roller 16 is mounted may be placed under spring pressure when short fibres are to be drafted or the spring may be removed when drafting long fibres. Alternatively, the spring may be retained but so mounted that its pressure may be varied. Another way in which the intermediate roller pressure may be varied is by using upper rollers of different sizes whilst retaining the spring.
