Abstract

832,724. Cartons. FIELD, SONS & CO. Ltd., and WEAR, E. June 30, 1958 [Sept. 25, 1957], No. 30029/57. Class 18. A collapsible carton comprises sides 1, 2 hinged together at 3 and 4 and V-shaped end flaps 8 with the point of the V coinciding with a hinge line 6 on the sides 1, 2. The hinge lines 3, 4 need not be parallel and the line 6 may not be parallel to the lines 3 and 4. The line 6 may not be at the mid-point of the sides. The flaps 8 are self-locking. An adhesive tab joins the ends of the blank to form a tube. In another embodiment, Fig. 6, the sides 1 and 2 are hinged to a narrow portion 12 and the inner flap 8 has a finger notch 14. In further embodiments, the carton may have flaps 8 at one end only, the lines 3, 4, and 6 converging in a point at the other end ; or one end of the wall 1 is of V- shape and the corresponding end of the wall 2 is arcuate; or, Fig. 15, one half of the flap 8 may be arcuate and the other half as shown in Fig. 3. Only one side 1 or 2 may have a flap 8, the other side having an abutment for the flap when inturned.
