Abstract
751,444. Metals vaporizer. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. Aug. 6, 1954 [Aug. 12, 1953], No. 22917/54. Class 82(2). A vaporizer for the evaporation of metals comprises a crucible made of a number of refractory, e.g. ceramic, tubes and rods which are assembled with the tubes 1, which are of equal length, lying side by side so as to form a U-shaped trough and with the rods 2, which are shorter than the tubes, lying within, and blocking the ends of, the trough, an electric heating element 4 threaded through the tubes, and means, e.g. wires or bands 3 made of heat-resisting material, for holding the tubes and rods together. The tubes and rods may also be held together by end-plates or blocks (not shown) which closely embrace the tubes.
