Abstract
1,234,369. Crucibles. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd. 10 April, 1970, No. 17213/70. Addition to 1,145,769. Heading F4B. [Also in Division H5] In a crucible formed of parallel lengths of metal tubes 7B with high electrical and thermal conductivity, with an opening in the floor formed by inwardly extending tube lengths 7c and surrounded by a concentrator ring 9, the first turn of an induction coil 12 surrounding the crucible encircles the concentrator ring and is electrically common with it. The first earthy turn 13 of the coil is rigidly connected to the concentrator ring 9 by blocks 14, 15 and the length of crucible surrounded by the coil is substantially equal to the internal diameter of the crucible. When the crucible is used within a gas-tight envelope the coil is also enclosed in the envelope.
