Abstract
1,261,353. Induction heating apparatus. MORGANITE RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT Ltd. 25 Aug., 1969 [24 May, 1968], No. 24886/68. Heading H5H. [Also in Division C1] A radio frequency induction heating system e.g. coil 4 is provided with a generally cylindrical susceptor 1 of e.g. impermeable graphite, the wall thickness of the susceptor being less towards the centre of the susceptor than away from it. The susceptor, which is held in place by e.g. a refractory material 2 enclosed within an outer furnace wall 3, may be of the shape illustrated or e.g. there may be a length of wall extending from the centre of evenly reduced wall thickness, terminating in an end portion of evenly increased wall thickness. The susceptor, which should have a permeability as low as possible, is used for graphitizing carbon filaments (see Division C1).
