Abstract

619,889. Hair-curling appliances. KVETON, A. Aug. 26, 1946, No. 25478. Convention date, Aug. 29, 1945. [Class 131] A hair curler comprises a curling tube in combination with pincers the clamping arms of which are operable against spring pressure, rotatable and axially displaceable with respect to the tube and are arranged so that one arm is housed within the tube while the other lies against its outer side. In the operation of the form of the device shown in Fig. 1 the arms 4, 5 are opened against the action of the spring 8, the " point " of a tress of hair clamped between the arm 5 and the side of the perforated tube 1 and the device rotated until it reaches a position close to the scalp when the pincers are withdrawn, opened and reinserted with the arm 5 resting on the outside of the coiled hair. The abutment 10 prevents detachment of the pincers from the tube. In a modification the curling tube is recessed at one side to facilitate withdrawal of the pincers which may be formed from a single strip of resilient material.
