Abstract

797,185. Hair-curling appliances. PERMA. Nov. 19, 1956 [Dec. 8, 1955], No. 35278/56. Class 131. A hair curler comprises a circular-section mandrel having a row of pins along one side and an arcuate, resilient sleeve straddling and gripping the mandrel to secure the tip of a lock of hair placed thereon, the pins extending through the hair to retain the sleeve for rotation bodily with the mandrel. As shown a sleeve 2 of transparent cellulose acetate is pressed over and grips a lock of hair 17 placed on a mandrel 1. The curler is slidden in the direction of the arrow Fl in Fig. 3 until only the tip of the lock is clamped and the edge 2b of the sleeve abuts the pins 3. The hair is then wound over the sleeve in the direction of the arrow F and is secured by any usual means such as a resilient wire having loops engaging axial studs on the mandrel. If impregnation of the hair after winding is necessary the sleeve has perforations.
